Hi Beta testers,

As you have surely already noticed, with Nothing OS 3.0 we are introducing Shared Widgets, a new way of staying connected with your loved ones, immediately accessible from your Home Screen.

With our Open Betas, we have made the Photo Widget available for you to test. It’s a simple yet effective way of sharing appreciation with your friends and family, in the most instant and present way possible. How does it work?

  1. Activate the Photo Widget: Add a photo widget (square) to your Home Screen, long-press it, and tap ‘Share’. Follow the prompts to copy the invitation link and send it to your friend.

  2. Connect to your loved ones: Your friend opens the link and adds the widget to their Home Screen. Now you’re both sharing the same widget.

  3. Show appreciation: To react, view replies, or share more, just tap the avatar in the bottom right corner of the Shared Widget. Use the widget menu to add photos.

Have you already tried the Photo Widget and shared some interactions with your friends? We would like to know what you think about it. Your feedback will help our Software Team further optimise the Photo Widget, and Shared Widgets in general.

✅ Things to know about the Photo Widget

  • Shared Widgets are currently supported by Nothing devices only. At this stage, only Photo Widgets (square) can be shared. We are rapidly developing support for other widgets, so stay tuned.

  • You’ll need to be logged into your Nothing Account to use this feature.

  • You can only share a widget with one friend at a time.

  • Shared Widgets use a unique, one-time-use link that expires after 24 hours or upon first acceptance. Be mindful of the content, as anyone with the link can view and use it after accepting.

  • Due to network conditions, recipients may experience a delay in fully accepting the Photo Widget.

❓ Known issues with Photo Widget:

We’re constantly working to make widget sharing even better. During these early stages, you may encounter the following:

  • If you log out of your Nothing Account and log back in, any widget interactions during that time will be lost. We’re working on a fix to sync interactions even when you’re offline.

  • Data synchronisation for widgets shared on other Nothing devices is not yet supported when you’re logged into the same Nothing Account on multiple devices. But we’re working on it.

  • Changes to your Nothing Account profile picture and nickname may not update instantly on the widget sharing page. We’re optimising our system to make sure your information is always up-to-date.

We look forward to reading your comments ⤵️

JeffreyLopez haven’t you seen Nothing’s OS 3 video or post?

@JesseZhao If you don’t mind me asking, Nothing must’ve seen some potential in widget sharing which made them to make it a reality. As it is in initial stages it’s hard to imagine, so can you let us know or explain a little about what potential it has and what Nothing’s plan for it?

yes what about it, they’ve been suggesting that its going to come out, but it’s been a years with that, I guess we can say I am impatient , waiting so long for it, which I don’t fully understand why it didn’t come out from the beginning……. Of OS2.0

    Yeah cool. But,

It only supports for 1 person. What if we can share that widget publicly, anyone can see, anyone can add photos.

Anyway, here is mine : I want to share a widget with you. Tap the link to accept.https://os.nothingtech.link/IVeBw3vIU

pixcel25 I mean, yes, but it’s the same “problem” that iPhons have. I mean, Nothing trying to create an own ecosystem. I understand that now few people own a Nothing, but let they growing up

Thanks for the transparency! It’s awesome to see that you’re actively working on improving widget sharing and data sync. The ability to share interactions seamlessly across devices, even when offline, will make a big difference. Looking forward to seeing these fixes rolled out—keep up the great work.

JesseZhao this is one of the most humane thing wrt technology in recent times.

        Thanks for this team 🙌🏽

Look forward to accessing them on Phone(1)

My father owns a CMF Phone (1) so I’m super excited to try this out with him.

I haven’t tried it yet, as I am waiting for the 3.0 release on Phone 1. However, I am really looking forward to this feature since it was announced. The idea of building a mini social network on the home screen is completely revolutionary.

One thing I would like to see is the option to open this feature to other Android phones, not just Nothing devices. This expansion could increase the network effect and allow more people to utilize this feature, providing a gateway to Nothing products as well. I understand the challenges involved in bringing the Nothing widget to other phones, but I believe it is possible and would be beneficial for everyone!

This thing sounds like shooting yourself in the foot with a railgun. Imagine you take a photo you don’t want to share, and your buddies instantly see it😅
