I was rather pleased with the watch itself and accepted the existing compromises for the proposed price. But I was very surprised and upset by how the timer works on this watch. I saw 5 reviews before buying and no one paid attention to it, but this is one of the basic functions of any modern watch, even mechanical ones. And I can only find out that the timer is more useless than functional after activating the device, which in my country automatically deprives me of the opportunity to return it. I feel cheated.
When I started googling the problem with the timer, I found a great post describing all my complaints about it on Reddit
A short summary from there:
- Activating the timer blocks the screen. The timer does not work in the background, but it could. This can be fixed programmatically with an update. I kindly ask @CMF by Nothing to do this. This will already solve its main problem.
- The timer widget is also useless, so far it only launches the last activated timer. It is enough for it to simply open the timer application. This is again very easy to implement programmatically.
- The other two problems from the post about the active screen and the timer pause are solved in the process of solving its main problem with working in the background.
I do not understand how it was possible to design an application in a modern product like this, as if no one has ever used a single timer in their life.
I suffer special pain because of this timer, since I need it to follow a diet. I had hepatitis C (got it during surgery) and I have Gelbert’s syndrome. I need to eat several times a day in small portions. And to track my meal schedule, I set timers for 3 hours. And with the current watch, it turns out that I just paid $70 for a timer on my hand, not a smartwatch.
I understand that the above problem is exclusively mine and this is my use case, but @MadMadsKR from the Reddit post confirms that this timer is useless in any more or less applied scenario.
I really ask the developers to rewrite this timer. Help make people’s lives better.
Otherwise, I was rather pleased with the watch. Especially with its battery life and design.
