Nothing Gallery | Discussion, Thoughts, & Reviews
So I installed Nothing Gallery beta, but I’m confused with the following fact: when you tap on your photo in Camera app, you still get dropped into G-Photos. How this can be fixed
I recently got the Nothing Gallery application on my NOS 2.6 via Play Store.
The application looks really well optimised and animations are also very well done. The human cut-out feature is also accurate.
But how do I set Nothing Gallery as my default gallery application?
Pros:
- You can choose what is displayed on the Photos page.
- The app remembers which page (photos, albums, search) you were last on, even after closing the app.
- Changing the size of the folders and photo overview, as well as calling up the image information with finger and swipe gestures is simple, clear and well solved.
Cons:
- You cannot set the Nothing Gallery as the default app and only the Google Gallery is accessed from the camera app. If this is deactivated, photo display from the camera is not possible
- The heading, in my case Albums, obscures parts of the top screen and folders when I swipe down and then up again.
Neutral:
- The dash slider for scrolling through the photos (by date) seems a bit intrusive.
- The font of the page heading (photos, albums, search) should adapt to the selected font in the final version of Nothing OS 3.0.
I hope that my feedback is helpful and is translated accurately, as the community page does in my case from English into German.
For me us everything well-done, except seath section. I had some issues with Ukrainian translation but it’s not such a problem.
As expectations, it would be nice to see how many storage will be free after deleting a couple of files
It also would be nice to have more intractable things, like if I tap on a region it would show me all the regions sorted, quick jump to a date and so on.
1. Add Backup Options:
• Integrate with Google Drive, Dropbox, TeraBox, Mega, etc.
2. Categorize Media:
• Separate photos and videos for easier navigation.
3. Photo Edit Option:
• Include tools for editing photos.
4. Recycle Bin:
• Implement a recycle bin for recovering deleted items.
5. Privacy Features:
• Add a privacy folder for albums.
• Include separate options for face unlock, fingerprint, and PIN.
• Ensure recovery options are available.
6. Enhanced Search Functionality:
• Improve the search bar with facial recognition algorithms.
• Display faces of people in round icons for easy identification.
If they added these features than it will perfect and the cutout is so smooth and good but still needs improvement
its still in early stage, and to that its way too good. lets wait until the final release with OS3.0 and see whats there whats not there. I am surprised they gave tap and hold to copy the subject. we should see more features with upcoming updates hopefully.
Andreas Gruber Nothing Gallery is my default gallery maybe it doesn’t work on your side but it’s working perfectly on my phone
The app is not final yet, I am confident that various errors will still be fixed! 👍
Andreas Gruber Yeah it’s still in beta so many errors are expected for now… am sure the final version will fix so many things.
1. Cloud saves should be added. Collaboration with Google Photos or any cloud drive.
2. Search by faces. A very convenient feature that many people like, as I understand it. It should be implemented for convenient sorting and searching of photos.
3. Integration with some map. Now we have a small screenshot of the map with a mark, but when you click on it, we are transferred to the default maps. Since there are screenshots of maps under the photos, it means that you are already collaborating with some map. It is very nice to have a full-fledged map that shows all the photos at once, so that you can see where you have been, where you took photos and where you took the most photos.
4. More options for changing the photo grid.
5. When choosing sources from which the gallery shows photos, some checkboxes are not saved.
6. Advanced search, in which you can find photos by key places, dates, cities and images in the photos.
Otherwise, I am very happy with this gallery. I was one of those who insisted on this being done. Nothing has done everything very beautifully, aesthetically, smoothly. I think that there is no need to stop there, Nothing definitely has its own taste, which makes the Nothing ecosystem only better and more aesthetically pleasing. I hope to continue polishing the gallery, as well as the implementation of further applications from Nothing.
Requesting you to please add feature to have a locked folder where we can store our personal images since in its beta it’s not having. JUST A ADVICE
I have a Nothing Phone 2 with the beta of nothing os 3.0 and recently i downloaded the new nothing gallery.
I have 2 problems/questions:
- Until i disabled the Google Pictures app the quick access to gallery from the camera redirected me there instead of the nothing gallery app. Is there any way to change that without disabling Google Pictures?
- Is there any Nothing’s official edit feature in the new gallery? When i touch the edit icon it redirects me to any photo edit app on my phone, is there any official one or recomended?
