There are many reasons behind that statement including cars **averaging** a speed of around 260 kmph in any given race, the super complex machinery within the cars, insane G-forces on turns, the intensity training for drivers, the swiftness of the pit crew, and so so so much more. Like many other people, I was a victim of the powerful storytelling behind the Netflix Docuseries ***Formula 1: Drive To Survive**.* After watching both seasons, I got hooked into the world of all things F1 and ended up religiously following every race in the 2021 Season and consuming copious amounts of legacy content. All that sprouted loyalty for McLaren and Lando Norris who are my favorite team & driver! I'll end it there for now and open up the thread for discussion, would love to know: * your favourite teams / drivers? * what you thought of the end of the season? * what are you excited about for the 2022 season?

suhantm Nice thread. I don’t follow F1 but I definitely followed the events of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It was incredible and definitely added some tension to the event.

Sadly, I think it was really unfair how it ended but I guess the rules are rules. I would compare it to football where a team is 10-0 up and in the 93rd min of the he, the ref decides next goal wins and the opposition score…Hey ho!

Very sad to see Seb leave the sport, but I understand the decision. Lets see if Audi can bring him back in 2026 - fingers crossed. Maybe Mick can join if he has not found another team in the interim.
Mick deserves another shot at F1. Maybe a different team than Haas, I dont mind really, but this should not be the end his F1 career. Hopefully he can get the reserve position at Mercedes.
As a big RB fan I’m very happy for the team and Verstappen on the WDC and WCC wins. Though I had hoped for the Ferrari to be more competitive, thus making the end of the season more exciting.
Huge respect to Mercedes for turning around what seemed like it could have been a much worse season. Also GR beating LH in the same machinery in his first year is not what I expected.
Alonso seems happy with his move to Aston, but I’m not sure how long that will last
With Nyck and Alex, the Williams will be more competitive than we expect

Maybe we can start a F1 Fantasy competition next year?
