HDR performance when streaming video

I just bought a Nothing Phone (2), OS ver. 2.0.4. I try to play HDR videos on Youtube but I suddenly found the color is so dark, almost can't seen. But desktop and text or wallpaper looks still great. Only HDR videos not working. I don't have Netflix so I can't compare. Is there any thing I need to setup ? From the the nothing phone 2 had issues with HDR support they didn’t even give HDR certification for netflix which sucks but for YouTube too it doesn’t . While watching HDR content when we close the video for a split of second the display gets bright and then again gets normal why isn’t hdr working? I have turned it on from the display settings too no improvements till these many updates too and no one is talking about it kindly fix this issue it persists from the launch kindly look into this.

maclaren0804 Yes I’ve noticed that too. The same video is bright when played from browser is getting dim on YouTube with HDR content.

My phone 2 still doesn’t run hdr playback for hdr enabled YouTube videos and Disney hotstar. Leave Netflix and prime video alone cause they don’t give certification to phone 2 for hdr playback. And nothing even after 8 months of phone 2 launch didn’t resolved this even for YouTube but broo hdr make a lot of difference in colours and peek brightness so just play any hdr videos on youtube on 4k and lock the screen from youtube option

Like this and hdr runs smoothly bro they amount of difference it makes much prettier then the blant simple video

Nothing should fix this as the display has so much to offer but hdr software issue ruins this

I tried this in Disney hotstar they movie experience is different it add more colour depth to it and makes black go more black amazing

Just praying that they fix this in next update

THEY FINALLY FIX !!!!!

After I update to NOTHING OS 2.5.5, the HDR video in YouTube is much brighter now !!! (Seems not bright enough but maybe hardware limit.). I don’t know which movie in Netflix can show it is using HDR mode so I can’t test.

You can go to Developer options to enable “Disable HW overlays”, the screen will be brighter.

Guys…it is said a lot of times that Netflix won’t enable HDR on the Nothing phones as they should be pre installed on every phone…Nothing did not make that deal with them for good reasons…youtube has HDR support now on 2.5.5 but it stutters on higher resolutions for now, it will be fixed in a hotfix hopefully.

addaedans if you haven’t read, they are not talking about Netflix but youtube and hotstar…hdr brightness on YT is too low that even touching navigation bar or escaping the video looks more bright than the hdr playback itself.

ItsAssassin same issue. I tried to play some HDR 10 videos on vlc media player . The navigation panel is too bright but the video is dull. Low light scenes are literally pure black.

Highly disappointed.!!!!!!!! ☹️
