I’ve been facing some issues with the Nothing 3a camera focus and wanted to check if others have experienced the same.

The auto-focus feels a bit confusing – it doesn’t consistently keep the object in focus when I move closer or farther away.
If I lock the focus on an object, it only stays sharp at the particular distance set. The moment I move closer or farther, it turns blurry again.

Has anyone else faced this issue? If yes, have you found any workaround or solution? Any tips would be really helpful.

Hello, dear Nothing Community!
I’ve recently purchased Nothing 3a Pro. It’s my first Nothing phone and I’m pretty satisfied with it.
But there is one issue I’ve recently noticed. I know that this phone should support 4k 30 FPS video but unfortunately system doesn’t handle it well. There are visible frame drops when recording video with native Camera app. Or any other camera app too.

As an evidence - there is a control in Blackmagic Camera app “If Media Drops Frame”. It indicates if frame drops or not.
Every time I start recording 4k 30 FPS video I see alert, or it automatically stops if app is configured to do so when frame drops. There is no frame drop issues with 4k 24FPS and lower resolutions.

Is there any solution to this issue? Please help!
I would like to be able to record 4k 30FPS videos 🙂

Hi Nothing team,

first of all I’ve been using your phone 2a from a long time and one of my family member is using phone 2 and we’ve had a great experience and kuddos to your hardwork and dedication. I just want to clarify that with the market price that has been provided in India of nothing phone 3a, there are other phone brands available which support 4k recording at 60 fps which makes you less compatible in the Indian markets and specially in the festive seasons. so I would like to urge you to make 4k resolution available in such phones from further on cause due to this you might face a huge backlash in Indian market with many tough competitors like samsung, oppo, realme and so on.

Everyone 😁 Use “Expert” mode whenever you can. Avoid that default “Photo” trash at any cost, it’s just terrible. I was actually just commenting about that, two days ago:

Anonymous931 Same on (3a), and there is no expert mode to save it, so under anything but perfect light (basically bright summer day) your skin tones look like you’re dead (or at least zombie) 😅 And any body hair (on head, forearms, eyebrows etc.) gets so dark with increased contrast that, combined with deadman-like looking skin, it appears like patches of fur over your body.

MuhammedMuhammedijas Use GCam, or use Expert mode with the default camera.

Not much else you can do because those guys at Nothing are apparently using 45% NTSC (55-ish % sRGB) TN displays at work so they can’t see colours properly, which is why they went absolutely bonkers with insane levels of oversaturation (skin gets orange because of it) and extreme highlights for photo post-processing. There is no any other explanation (except that they are, perhaps, totally colour-blind so they can’t see properly).

We can just hope that this month’s update is going to bring improvements to pretty damn capable hardware (with terrible camera software). Until then GCam and/or Expert mode… Or just desaturate every photo you take to make it normal. My today’s example on this matter:

Haven’t experienced it at all. Portrait, no portrait — everything’s just almost same as I see in real life. Sometimes maybe a little bit brighter and less saturated in some scenarios.

Major Camera Issues nothing 3

Here’s a screen recording of my nothing phone 3a’s camera on slow-motion mode.

Here you can clearly see how badly pixelated my background is, edges are fully torn, foreground is also pixelating, focusing issues are beyond acceptable limits. Even when I click raw Images of close objects they’re workable but when I click raw images of a person of someone with a distant background (around 4-8 feet) again the background gets pixelated just like you seen in the image, tried fixing it in post but that is not workable. Camera was great when I bought the phone but after updating my phone (OTA) camera felt like it’s been downgraded

please, I request you to fix this, I like nothing phones and this is my first phone. I would love to be a long term nothing user for many reasons but now a days camera is the biggest flex for any smartphone phone.
