Essential Space | Feature Wishlist

I use essential space to get reminded about things or keep track of upcoming dates. I would love a way to also add things more in the realm of a simple note, like "remember to hydrate!" and have this *not* be attached to a date or time. A widget that could display these sorts of thing would be great as well. Maybe it's just me, what do you guys think?

Yeah I found this quite odd when i upgraded. Seemed to me like something that would automatically transfer; guess not yet.

Yeah right now i don’t believe there is anyway you can upload a audio file to essential space. Pretty sure the only way you can use the AI recording is by holding down the essential space key when the phone is upside down.

I heavily agree with this. I feel like a lot of nothing widgets could be improved if they added a stacking feature, allowing for people to swipe between different widget displays. Even just being able to stack regular widgets, like what is possible on Samsung and Apple phones, would be quite useful

I agree with this. I believe right now the reason google calendar is the only option is because the login options are either by email or google (giving access to google calendar). What I think nothing should do is have the essential space reminders be a part of a subscribable calendar; this would allow it to be used on any calendar platform and is usually more reliable (I find that the reminders arent added to my google calendar every time).

What would also be nice is if nothing would create an option for categorising the reminders: i.e. adding an option to add date subheadings to seperate reminders making them more readable, or even a calendar tab to help visualise reminders/events. It would also be nice to add notes to reminders (maybe location information, flagging events, and a early reminder option). This might reduce the simplicity of the essential space - which I know nothing likes - but I believe the added functionality would be more beneficial.

I agree with this, there should be an option to turn it off. Right now if you need to delete screenshots from your camera roll because you have them in the Essential Space, there is an album that contains all essential screenshots that you can multi-select and delete. Definitely a step that could be removed if you can just toggle the option of saving to gallery off

Bulk Deletion is Missing:

Currently, to delete any item from Essential Space, I have to tap into each individual item and delete it manually. This becomes super tedious when you’ve got 50+ entries. A multi-select option to delete or manage multiple entries at once would be a game-changer.

Big on this as well, being able to slide to multi-select would be very helpful.

I’d love for essential space to record audio online without needing to be connected to a photo or screenshot. It would aid in note taking and categorizing my ideas. Love using the space already and the AI is interesting.

Hello community!

I just bought my first Nothing product (Nothing Phone [3A]) and I wanted to share some of the things I would love to be integrated in Essential Space. I target to use it as a note taking app and a place to gather resources and organize my ideas (such as those I usually would have on other dedicated apps such as Pinterest, Instagram, Google Keep,Miro…), therefore:

A way to create, and most importantly, edit notes would be key.
There are some notes I don’t want the AI to summarize or add a heading so could be cool to disable those functions in the settings and used them only when needed. Actually, I think the AI transcription of recording could also be directly integrated in the recorder app in my opinion and
Should be possible to add files (photos, audios, documents) to Essential Space.
Would be also nice to add the sceenshots directly to a specific collection similarly to how that works in platforms such as Pinterest or Instagram.
Some of the content I want to add are also videos. I would like it so one click to the Essential Key takes a screenshot and a long press strats a screen recording.

I know most of this features I propose are not AI related but are, in my opinion, more ESSENTIAL and fit more the purpose of this app. Yes, having an AI that summarizes content in this space, that set reminders based on it and a bunch of other features is useful, but as far as I understand, Essential Space is not an AI assistant, and those are secondary functionalities that might help organizing the essential information displayed in this space.

I’m really happy to join the community and excited to see what Essential Space evolves into!

I would like to have it as that I can like make it so that when I swipe it access the essential space rather than Google news which I don’t use and I strangely am liking the essential space for I take a lot of screenshots and this somehow is kinda clicking for me .

Well, another suggestion here.

As I use the Space for planning my day sometimes I can forget about doing something. And I’d with those unmarked things should stay in upcoming everytime marking that I haven’t done it. So, here how it looks right now:

This is how my widget looks with upcoming events. Maybe there could be an option to swipe down to see other events

And this is how many events aren’t showing on a widget but they’re undone or haven’t been marked yet.

It’ll be more productive if these were still on widget until you done and mark it. Anyone agrees?

I recorded a meeting today and was looking forward to have AI summarize the meeting for me, but something seems to be wrong.
I used “recorder” (a widget/app on the phone) to start the recording, I thought this was the same piece of software since they look like a nothing application.

Now I can’t see the recording in “essential space” and I don’t have any option to analyze the recording after the fact.

Is there any way to move the recording to the right folder (I can’t figure out where any of them are)?

anyone have any suggestions to this problem or maybe this is something that nothing can work on to make a fix/feature 😃

I recently upgraded to the Phone 3a Pro from the Phone 3a since I needed eSIM for my new mobile plan. The 3a Pro just arrived, and after transferring my data from my old Phone 3a, I realised the Essential Space did not transfer.

I know a lot of users don’t use Essential Space, but I find it quite useful for setting reminders just by typing or recording a voice memo. This feature is something I currently rely on for my reminders, as I really enjoy the efficiency of the process and the fact that there is a dedicated “reminder” button.

However, now that I have upgraded my phone and can’t transfer the Essential Space data directly, I’m having to re-input all my reminders—which is quite tedious. I have also lost all the screenshots and notes I made using Essential Space (too much effort to even try transferring them).

I find this inability to transfer data quite odd, as they make you sign into Essential Space (either through Google or an email), yet no data is actually stored in that account. I hope they can fix this soon, as I remember Carl reacting to Marques’ video in which he commented that Essential Space is cross-platform and Carl responding that the team will work on this.

Please fix this, Nothing.

OllieBaksa oh! Thanks for pointing about that issue with data transfering on Essential Space! I’m currently using regular 3a and Essential Space is my to-go… stuff? app? for every day. This will force me to keep this phone until any transfer options will be created…

Having received my NP3 recently upgrading from NP2 I was excited to try Essential Space. Until now Google Keep has been my go to for grabbing and saving articles, web links, photos, screen shots - so how does Essential Space compare?

Well… it’s erm…well… kinda meh. I mean the convenience of the button is fantastic but it’s still sort of a sh*t show when you try and then find anything.

I can already make notes by holding down my power button and using gemini (which puts the notes in Keep) and I have a Keep photo button on my home screen (hopefully can add this to lock screen at some point but that’s another conversation). Yes I know Keep doesn’t use any AI to summerize my caputre… YET.. but I don’t doubt Google will be adding Gemini within Keep in the near future it’s only a matter of time.

Key Features I feel are missing:-

Search.

Why is there no option to search my Essential Space? I’m taking lots of notes and screenshots and photos some that I’ll need months from now?

Option To Move Items

I have so many items at the top of the page, it would be nice to move these out of this space into collections and/or memories.

The whole space is a bit of mess and needs rearranging.

Screenshotting a webpage.

When I screenshot shot a webpage why can’t the AI capture the web link and include it within the memory for easy access. Yes I can copy and paste it but it’s a clunky process.

When I screenshot shot normally I’m able to capture more than what’s on my screen but with Essential capture there’s no option to do this - why not?

Share To Essential Space

We need an option under Share (which currently gives options such as WhatsApp, Messages and of course Keep) to share to Essential Space.

That’s it for now. I appreciate it’s a Beta product and honestly think it has the potential to be amazing, but at the moment I’m sticking with Keep foe my “essential space”. If I’m missing any tips or tricks I’d love to hear!

Essential button : reminder feature.

Essential button has great potentialities.I like how it integrates with my calenderIf i put a reminder with essential button my google calender automatically puts it in.I also want the other way around. My callender events should also be put in essential space.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Reminder shouldn’t be just a notification. If it has the feature with snooze option and acts like an alarm i woludn’t need a third party app like tick fick or business calender 2.

So I’ve noticed a couple of features which I think have just appeared?

Record my phone calls using essential space. This is great! I used it yesterday and then analysed the call got get the bullet points - fantastic feature.

Share to Essential Recorder! YES YES YES - when I hit the share button on an article etc. I can now share to Essential Recorder and it puts the article in my Essential Space (instead of me having to copy the link, open Essential Space and then add it from clip board). Great stuff.

Is there other features missing? Is there a full online guide for Essential space including the two features above?

I hope the next upgrade will include Auto Collection and an option to hide stuff from the top that’s in a collection so there’s less clutter - but loving Essential Space more and more at the moment.

Why do I need to always take a screenshot when I want to add something to my essentials space, like I just want to give myself a reminder to do my homework at 8:00 p.m. and every time I need to take a screenshot it just makes mess and the application

TimothyG If you tap the screenshot after pressing the essential button, it will not include it in the entry.
