Essential Space | Feature Wishlist

I use essential space to get reminded about things or keep track of upcoming dates. I would love a way to also add things more in the realm of a simple note, like "remember to hydrate!" and have this *not* be attached to a date or time. A widget that could display these sorts of thing would be great as well. Maybe it's just me, what do you guys think?

hrry my wish is to access essential space in nothing phone 2a or 2a plus, even tho without essential button, just the widget 🥺

I love the AI functionality in Essential Space, funnily enough I develop similar systems with AI Summarization with Transcription and Summarization. I can’t divulge further into what I am developing, but a key feature we have in our application is that you’re able to edit the summary yourself. I think to really create value in the use of this feature is to open up for editing the tasks and the summary the application makes. AI will make small mistakes, which is fine, but let us do the final edit on them.

I think, Essential Space is a useful app and I like the concept - especially the recent addition of sending pictured from the camera app to the Essential Space - very very nice. It keeps my photo-collection clean from photos that I take just as a note.

What I dearly miss is a way to get the pictures/screenshots out of the Essential Space for further processing. Often times I take a note on the phone and would like to continue work with it on the laptop. Currently, I have to take a classic android screenshot that allows to be shared.

So, missing features in the Essential Space is at least a sharing function. A web-interface to the Essential Space would also be nice.

In the essential space, provide options to edit notes. It doesn’t allow editing of the note/information written initially.

Will Essential Space be available for NP ½/2a/2a Plus? If not, can Nothing create “Essential Space LITE”?

Let me explain:

Essential Space LITE

1. Ability to save voice/text messages with a screenshot.

2. Widget for Upcoming/To-Do list.

3. App for organizing screenshots and voice/text messages.

All these features are amazing, and I believe they can be added to older phones too. While the NP ½/2a/2a Plus may not be as powerful as the NP 3a/3a Pro, these features would still be useful for all Nothing users.

Hello, just wondering if there is a space where we can give essential space feedback.

Suffice to say I love this new feature, but I think some improvements can be made. E.g.

The possibility of adding links so the AI can read the article, summarize it and create a task according with what we asked for in the audio note / written note.
Be able to scroll down in the screenshot so we can capture a whole article/grocery list/whatever.
An option to mark the task as completed from the notifications hub.

Is there more feedback to add? I leave open this channel so you can have a feedback thread. Nevertheless, if there is a more appropriate space to do so, feel free to redirect me.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been exploring the new Essential Space feature on my Nothing Phone and while it’s definitely a cool and promising addition, I’ve run into a couple of things that feel limiting and could really use improvement:

1. Bulk Deletion is Missing:

Currently, to delete any item from Essential Space, I have to tap into each individual item and delete it manually. This becomes super tedious when you’ve got 50+ entries. A multi-select option to delete or manage multiple entries at once would be a game-changer.

2. Can’t Import or Tag Existing Content:

I often have recordings or notes I’ve made outside of Essential Space (like in the native recorder or gallery), and there’s no way to import or tag them into Essential Space. Also, transcription only works when recording through the Essential Button, which feels restrictive. It would be great if:

We could manually tag/import existing files (voice, images, docs).

Transcription was available for existing recordings too.

Would love to hear if anyone else is facing this—and if the team is reading, consider this user feedback for future updates!

Yeah right now i don’t believe there is anyway you can upload a audio file to essential space. Pretty sure the only way you can use the AI recording is by holding down the essential space key when the phone is upside down.

I heavily agree with this. I feel like a lot of nothing widgets could be improved if they added a stacking feature, allowing for people to swipe between different widget displays. Even just being able to stack regular widgets, like what is possible on Samsung and Apple phones, would be quite useful

I agree with this. I believe right now the reason google calendar is the only option is because the login options are either by email or google (giving access to google calendar). What I think nothing should do is have the essential space reminders be a part of a subscribable calendar; this would allow it to be used on any calendar platform and is usually more reliable (I find that the reminders arent added to my google calendar every time).

What would also be nice is if nothing would create an option for categorising the reminders: i.e. adding an option to add date subheadings to seperate reminders making them more readable, or even a calendar tab to help visualise reminders/events. It would also be nice to add notes to reminders (maybe location information, flagging events, and a early reminder option). This might reduce the simplicity of the essential space - which I know nothing likes - but I believe the added functionality would be more beneficial.

I agree with this, there should be an option to turn it off. Right now if you need to delete screenshots from your camera roll because you have them in the Essential Space, there is an album that contains all essential screenshots that you can multi-select and delete. Definitely a step that could be removed if you can just toggle the option of saving to gallery off

Big on this as well, being able to slide to multi-select would be very helpful.

Why isn’t there an option to edit stuff in essential space?

I would like to store passwords in essential space or some other stuff, but making a new tab for every password feels very unorganized, inconvenient and inefficient to access. It would really nice if you could edit a note or merge it with others to keep the essential space neat and clean.

Is there any ways to make essential space automatically group memories into collections? e.g I have multiple thoughts on specific topic, it’s pretty straight forward to combine them into one collection even based on summary, but I don’t see anything like that in settings 🙁
