I recently purchased the Nothing Phone 3a and have noticed that the battery drains very quickly during WhatsApp video calls. Even with a full charge, the battery percentage drops significantly within a short period. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Are there any settings or optimizations that could help reduce battery consumption during video calls? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

My Nothing 3a pro's battery draining fast. It don't stand 10 hr of continue usage. Any tips to save battery issue

Ananthu 10 hours? Lol, my 3a pro barely makes it 3:35 hours of SOT from 70% to 18%. Even if I went from 100% to 0%, I’d be lucky to hit 7 hours. which honestly feels kinda low for how I use it.

I think the issue is calibration

Accubattery had been showing very low (92%) battery health for my 3a since day one. For past few days I was getting just around 3 hours of SOT (I use my battery from 90 to 30% range), instead of 4-5 as before.

So I did heavy gaming until the phone died, plugged it in, turned it on at 2% and immediately went into accubattery and let it overcharge.

At 100% Accu reported only 4300 mah capacity was charged (86%), and the phone was still taking the same amount of fast charging current. It kept charging beyond 100 for 17 minutes more. I removed it and put it back on for another 3 minutes of slow charging. Then Accu reported 97% health (which feels normal)

Charged it to 100 again the next day and have been noticing slightly longer SOT.

Amudhan_Sundararajan Not related to the issue, but 70% charge limit doesn't make as much difference in protecting battery life. 90% is good enough

Anyway, your usage curve is going down faster with time when it should be a straight line…that's pretty concerning if you're only using firefox

Amudhan_Sundararajan yes , the battery is draining very fast i didnt use my phont since 1 hour and only data is on the battery is by 4 percent

I have 8-10h SOT on my 3a Pro, which is great comparing to my previous Xiaomi/Redmi mobiles.

YashSrivasta7a HI! I did nothing. After last update battery start to drain in about 6-8 hours and just 5 days ago it started to last almost 2 days. No new apps, no different use. I guessed a silent update from nothing.

Has any nothing 3a users facing battery drain issue after recent updates because before the September patch i used get about around 10-11 hrs sot from charging it upto 90 and using it till 15 but after even today i charged it to 100 using it till 9% especially today only i charged to 100 whether to check i will get same SOT by charging it higher but still I got around 8 ½

Please guys fix this issue soon

Some of you can tell that i have put this complaint in feedback option through settings but the thing is I have already done and what I get is we appreciate your valuable feedback…….

NOS4.0 beta update, my Nothingie is with me from July. So this is my usual battery drain now. Screenshots from yesterday. I’d say that’s pretty good result.

themountofmint That’s really impressive! Mine never reaches this much. At max sometimes it goes 8hrs+ by the time phone reaches 4-5%. I never use battery saver or 60hz & I’ve kept display at dynamic mode. Do you do anything specifically to save more battery? Like keeping display at 60hz or disabling background usage for apps?

PredatorPreys13 uhm… nothing😅 I usually have everything enabled (WiFi, internet when available outside (because we don’t have it rn all the time for all apps), VPN, Bluetooth, location)… usually I turn off the internet at home and WiFi outside of course. I still think it’s not enough because of my active time with phone so I put on charge at 10 pm when I’m still active for about a few hours at least. Almost everyday I listen to music in the background while doing something on a phone.

This is today btw. Here’s 7% left. I also have dynamic refresh rate that’s mostly has 120 Hz I guess from my eye. Idk, I do nothing. Well I put a silicon case on it because I’m afraid a cold temperature may bring more battery drain to it… remembering how my Galaxy A71 could turn off at 80% without the reason at winter just because… kinda hoping Nothingie won’t do the same again otherwise I’d blame Carl Pei…

Well sometimes I even play a bad girl and use it while charging, charge it for like 50-60% and turn off the cable, then charge when it’s less than 20% 🤣 I guess if I was more accurate in this and less active user my Nothingie lasted longer for about a half of a day, I’d say…

themountofmint That’s cool! 😁 I’m always on wifi and don’t use mobile data. I also keep location and bluetooth on all the time because I listen to a lot of music throughout the day. Currently I charge once in 3 days my avg screen time is around ~4hrs so it lasts until the third day for sometime. Seeing vk i assume you’re from Russia? Is it very cold there? What’s your avg temp on the phone? My phone usually was around 33°c but nowadays after os 4 (I’m using it since beta) it hovers around 20-22°c. I use a basic silicone transparent case and battery saver on 20%. Earlier it was as low as 10% but with new change the minimum is 20% for auto activation. Earlier I had a realme which gave me sot of 3-4hrs depending on the usage. I charged it like twice or thrice in a day. 3a is far far better. I’m absolutely loving this phone. The attached image is my recent usage at the time of writing this 11:18am. I have some juice left i think I’ll charge it later during day. 😁

Yeah, I’m currently in Russia, so in a place I’m living we can get around -20°C this winter. Usually it lowers to -5/-10°C. Idk about phone temperature, I haven’t measured it and idk where to do it. As for my feels it’s usually has around 20°C I’d say (like a static home temperature), sometimes it becomes warmer for maybe 30°C, but this happens so rarely. I’m a freezing person😅, so basically I wear winter hats and scarfs when it’s around 5°C. I also wear long jackets to be sure all my body will be warm😂 I can’t be a warmer for my Nothingie

themountofmint Yep, even for me coming from the previous realme the screentime I get using 3a is super good. I don’t have to worry about battery even with heavy usage somedays. 😁

My god -20°c is crazy 😱. I live in India and in my region the max I’ve experienced is 3-5°c which is cold enough for me haha. To measure phone temperature any battery app would work. Accubattery or battery info by monospace any app shows battery temp. On avg the phone won’t even feel warm at 30°c. I think you’d have to heat it up to 40ish to even feel the warmth through. But then again you live in such a cold region maybe you’d feel it when it reaches 30°c even 😅. Stay warm and safe. The winters there surely sound amazing though haha 😆. Have you seen the new iphone carrybag? It looks like a warmer for phone really like a sweater lol.

PredatorPreys13 yeah I’ve seen and it looks as a joke to me tbh🤣 I wanted to buy a fluffy case on my Z Flip5 back then, now I’d like to get one for my 3a. But there are just a few cases and most of them aren’t really amazing, some are hiding the glyphs. A transparent case I bought this July became brown already and I don’t like it…

In Siberian regions we have around -35°C sometimes every winter😅 and even more

Is it just me, or has my NP3a’s battery gotten worse after the new OS update? It barely lasts 5 hours now.

YashSrivasta7a I’m not experiencing any major change it’s the same since os 3.0 for me. I think only difference is the apps i use. If you’ve just updated i think you should wait for a few days because adaptive battery takes time to learn and due to big update maybe it’s doing it again.

Nothingcanbeatme i think either your device is faulty or the apps you’re using is taking some usage 🤔. Do you have a lot of ideal drain also?
