I bought a Nothing Phone (3a) a little under a month ago, and just received it yesterday (it was ordered to a far address). I am a very lightweight user and purposely bought this phone because it seemed efficient and would last a long time because Nothing seemed to have really put in effort. And I saw reviews saying despite the smaller battery it has better battery life than its competitors.
And now I must say I am disappointed. This is my first personal phone since the LG G4 and I almost love it. I love the innovation, which since LG's downfall no manufacturer seemed to care about. I love the simplicity and efficiency. I love the lack of junkware. But for something so crucial as the battery life to be overlooked for 8 months with a response similar to a Dell support response is a sign of horrible support of their products and customers, and as a new customer that just spent more money than my budget called for I am sorely disappointed by this. I watch with dismay as the percent goes down just from my writing this. I am on 4G, not on 5G - And mostly using WiFi. I don't do WhatsApp calls, only chats. And barely. One YouTube video today. One very short phone call as a test. I didn't even hook up my Spotify account yet. One email account. I use Edge instead of the resource hogging Chrome. No social media apps. On dark mode. Took one photo. And I mostly used my work phone today. No wonder the percent is disabled by default…
I really want to love this phone, but the battery is crucial. If you are letting it be inefficient for this long, Nothing, then the capacity will have already diminished significantly when you do get to it, if ever. And if that is the case, you will need to replace the battery free of cost.
Should I have just gotten a cheap Xiaomi instead? Was this a mistake?
Why does my old cheap Samsung A13 work phone last longer than this by a mile?
This battery life is good for a 3 year old phone. Not a one day old phone.
Nothing, fix it quickly or you will lose the small user base you managed to get and you will literally become nothing. Support and reliability are the most important things when you make a product. You are a 3 year old company and judging by your response to this very old issue, this is not a good start.
If I have a ruined battery capacity simply because you can't make good software for your phones, I can't recommend this brand to anyone. And I have been looking forward to recommending this to a lot of people who haven't even heard of OnePlus.
As for heat, for now my phone has not suffered from that, thankfully..
Just to be clear:
I love what Nothing is doing and they are trying very hard.
And I have very high hopes for this company, assuming they don't get greedy.
So I don't mean to be so negative, but when I see companies respond the way Nothing did in this thread, and the issue is not resolved after 8 months, it is very concerning. The response from Nothing should be…something 😄 I really like this brand and hope things will improve soon!
Maybe Nothing OS 4?
