Camera pictures dated 1970

After endlessly looking for my recent pictures in WhatsApp and Messenger application I discovered them at the very end of the folder dated 1970.

For an expensive enough phone and after getting a new motherboard installed already it’s getting annoying. I have googled around and there still doesn’t seem to be a fix for the 1970 date issue

Try renaming the Recent picture name in “Gallery” to Camera 1, Then a new “Camera” slot opens up as Camera and then the new pictures saves to the new slot and works with MSG and WhatsApp..worked on mine OK as a work round.

I’m using Open Camera from the app store until they can fix it

I also have the same issue. Seems to be caused by daylight savings, which causes the app to not properly record any picture’s metadata when created, but only after the clocks went back an hour.

Really annoying, as every app apart from Google Photos relies on this data to sort pics into order.

aronsjunk This makes sense, as I tried downloading a different photo gallery and had the same issue. Sounds like an issue with the way the Nothing Camera app saves photos as you say.

terry_Rebel Can you please explain in detail how to do that? Which app do I open? and where is the exact function to Edit the name? And should I name a picture “Camera 1” eliminating jpg?? I don’t understand what needs to be done

AlessandroPini He’s suggesting to rename the default ‘Camera’ folder, so the camera app creates a new folder, which makes finding pictures a bit easier due to them all being designated 1970. Doesn’t resolve the issue, but makes finding pictures a bit easier as all the proper meta data pictures are now in a different folder.

Mine also has this problem, tried afew fixes seen online without any luck. Then done a full factory reset which didn’t fix it also. First World problem but really annoying!!

On another note using open cam and everything saves like it should!

Hi everyone. I’m pleased to report the update to Android 14 (nothing OS 2.5.1) has resolved this issue for me.

Hopefully the fix sticks when the clocks change again in the new year!
