The worst thing about file transfers is the speed which is limited by the USB 2 on the phone 2 and even though quick share does a great job of transferring small files it gets useless when shring large files it could be better if the phone can access the files via smb server like every other phone

Since many other file explorer which could connect to smb servers had a history of getting banned it just doesn’t seems right to install them and the worst part is Google’s file explorer doesn’t even have connect to smb in it’s options

I can’t get it to work in any way, I have installed a thousand Samsung, Android, ADB drivers… I have USB debugging and OTG enhancement enabled and still my computer does not detect the phone. How can something so simple and basic work so badly???

I am delighted with the Nothing Phone 2 but this is completely ruining the experience for me, just as it also does not allow usb internet sharing to be activated (I suppose for the same reason that Windows Explorer does not detect it)

Very bad of anyone not to pay attention to this. From their support they only tell you to activate debugging and reinstall the drivers… but how am I going to reinstall them if my phone doesn’t even recognize me!! Anyway… it makes me want to sell it and go back to Xiaomi because at least the basic things work as they should.

    I have the same problem..used to transfer files before the new update. Now no device is recognised by my PC… I can connect my old phone and transfer.. problem is with Nothing 2

      now i fixed the problem i will tell you the steps

      goto device manager in your computer and there you will find android in first item and uninstall the drive the problem will solved

        I don’t understand why “professionals” always think it’s just a user issue instead of actually being helpful or admit the device has an issue. I have the same file transfer issue, i tried the same steps to connect the phone and same cable for both my phones and guess what? My old Xiaomi MI10T PRO connects to pc with no issue as it should while my Nothing Phone 2 doesn’t.

        I found a solution that worked for me.

        Before this, when I connected my NP2 with my computer, nothing happened…

        I did contact Nothing support that told me to factory reset my phone (I didn’t want to…).

        The only thing that my PC did was the Windows plugged in sound.

        I investigated :

        My NP2 was detected by my PC but not “specified” (I did see it in “peripheral and a printer” down the page).

        I tried the thing in a virtual machine to see if the problem was my PC (the drivers actually present in Windows) or my phone (OS damage,…).

        The problem came from my PC because I was able to see and was able to go inside my storage phone with my virtual machine !

        All I did was to go to my “peripheral and printer” page, unplug and plug my NP2 to see what was the peripheric that came and went.

        When I found it, I right clicked to go in his property, then in the material page, click property and then a new window appeared.

        In this new windows you go in Pilots and then click uninstall the device (be sure it is your phone !).

        The only last step was to unplug my phone and then plug it back.

        After that my PC asked me what to do with the new Device A065 (depending on your model I think).

        I clicked on the folder logo, and my storage appeared.

        If you can see your phone but nothing into it, don’t forget to enable the transfer file on your phone (option into notification bar).

        I hope this helps, the name of the Windows parameters might not be the same because my Windows is in French and I just translate the names.

        I am facing an issue called “Semaphore timeout”. My pc detects my phone. I start transferring files from phone to pc. However, after exactly 30 minutes, the error msg comes up and file transfer stopped.

        I had a software called spacedesk which, allowed me to use my phone/tablet as an external display.
        As soon as I uninstalled that, everything started working fine.

        Please check if you have any software such as what I was using, and try again. Phone itself is most probably fine.

        Under Developer options, choose DEFAULT USB configuration. You may change to File Transfer options

        So, I wanted to transfer some data from my phone (1) to my laptop, but the laptop just doesn’t see it. I tried other phones with the same cable and USB port, and they appeared in the computer explorer. My phone is charging when connected, but I can’t do anything else.
