I recently purchased nothing phone 2 and tried to backup my data by connection to USB to my PC, It doesn’t show in This PC Section any storage connected. I have enabled USB Debugging and From USB Option enable File Transfer also still I am not able to connect but if i Select PTP from USB Options it work fine but it is only for Picture Sharing. I need File Transfer option to work with my PC.
I have tried installing multiple Android USB driver hoping it will work but sadly no.

This is very bad experience with simple things need to struggle lot. Any one have solution for this or this is a Bug in Nothing Phone 2.

    I recently bought an Amazon basic memory card reader to transfer all my older files . The card reader is working fine . But my phone can’t read any files as it says “usb controlled by - this device (couldn’t switch)” . Please fix this nothing . I bought this device . Because I didn’t want to face any stupid issues like this . Don’t break my trust

      I can’t connect my phone to the computer using my USB.

      When i connect it charges but doesn’t not give me options to choose for File Transfer.

      I tried all the troubleshooting options yet still issue persists.

      USB cable is fine and computer too.

      All of them are working with my other phones.

      Please provide a solution.

        Please follow the below steps:
        1. Go to Settings>About Phone>Software Info>Build Number and tap 7 times. After “You are in developer mode” appears, please turn on USB debugging in Setting> System>Developer Options>USB Debugging.
        2. If the phone is charging, unplug and re-plug the cable. If “USB for Transfer Files” does not show up on the phone, please restart the phone and try again.

              • Try a different USB cable. Not all USB cables can transfer files.

            Yes, I am facing similar issue. Transfer Begins but crashes midway. I had to individually copy sub folders . I found that when transferring folders if any folder contains some unsupported file types the transfer is crashes. Please fix this

            Its not working and i have tried almost everything.This is highly disappointing.

            1. cannot even switch the “USB Controlled by” option.
            2. Doesn’t even show in Device manager.
            3. What are we suppose to do. The phone does nothing except charge.

            Recently got the phone 2 , had to transfer backup from laptop.

            SHOCKER, phone 2 doesn’t even work with usb transfer. EVEN got the USB cable replaced from NOTHING partnered service centered. STILL DOESN’t work.

            WHY?

              Pranjal_XjoE9068VS I can confirm it does have USB file transfer (obviously) and it is working for me.

              as SrsThewrongguy already mentioned, this is the first step to check.

                    ThangMai NP 2 doesn’t have a slot for sdcard. I assume you are using an OTG device to access the sdcard.

                    In that case, check whether the sdcard is read and write protected.

                    Are you able to view the files from sdcard?

                    Are you able to copy the files from any PC/Laptop?

                        Mr Steel lemme check the latter link because i did.. btw ur pc.. which type c connector does it have? like 3.2 thunderbolt or what (just asking)

                            Mr Steel mine has usb 3.1 gen 1 type c and 3x usb 3.1 type A ports, FYI, connected to my friend’s lappie who also has 3.2 gen2 thunderbolt type c port and it showed my phone’s storage instantly. Wonder which driver is missing in my lappie
