Nothing Phone Keyboard

Hi i would like to suggest that, Nothing OS to introduce a unique keyboard like IOS Keyboard uniquely design for Nothing Phone, rather than just using normal gboard…

sufianothman IOS keyboard seriously??? Have you even used the iOS keyboard or you are just saying? If privacy is your concern on Gboard use HeliBoard its an open source keyboard.

Gboard is capturing all your entered words. I’m pretty sure Google is using it for ads and stuff, so a own keyboard would be nice but i think we’re not getting it from Nothing

I honestly don’t have any problems with gboard style wise. But if your asking for a Nothing keyboard so that Google isn’t using your typing data then I guess that an interesting proposal. However, personally I think Nothing should focus on other things then to design another app that isn’t all that necessary but that’s just my opinion.

Google is gathering all kinds of data throughout their apps, so I guess just getting rid of Gboard is just one step of preventing this. Personally I don’t have any real issues with Gboard and it has actually become my favourite across my Android devices since years. There are also a bunch of other 3rd party keyboard apps available for Android.

Considering Nothing’s rather limited ressources, I’d also rather dee them focusing on other software related things, I simply don’t see the keyboard as a top priority.

I switched from Pixel 8 to the Nothing and now really miss the fully fleshed GBoard on pixel, that would insert punctuation (usually correctly), and stay on even after pressing enter. Now I’m back to the basic GBoard that is acceptable, but not great. Sol the search begins for a better voice typing keyboard, if one exists. Tried Swiftkey but it’s about the same as GBoard basic.

I feel it’s a good idea to have a well polished keyboard from nothing, as a user spends a big part of their time on the phone using the keyboard.

Shiivampatel That’s alright! Everyone has a preference, but the option should be there, like in Samsung you can choose between gboard and samsung keyboard

It will be nice to have it, but for now we have tones of alternatives, i use Fleksy for a years.

Gboard provides most features one may want. you can switch to open source if you want to keep it more privacy stuff.
there are endless keyboard. plus making a native keyboard app isnt just coding part. its too much big process.

Personally I feel the keyboard is one of the last things Nothing should concentrate on. After trying many keyboard on my Samsung devices over the years, I usually come back to Gboard all the time.

I get the concern regarding sending data to Google - however the whole phone is essentially Google-fied, so if somebody fears about data, changing the keyboard is just a small part of the puzzle stopping this.

Coldpaw Gboard is simple, minimal and good enough already. Don’t know why people want oem or bloated keyboards, after buying a bloatware free OS. If want bloats, and Samsung keyboards.. go get Samsung right? Samsung has more choices of phones at different entry levels and prices.
