Gboard is capturing all your entered words. I’m pretty sure Google is using it for ads and stuff, so a own keyboard would be nice but i think we’re not getting it from Nothing

I honestly don’t have any problems with gboard style wise. But if your asking for a Nothing keyboard so that Google isn’t using your typing data then I guess that an interesting proposal. However, personally I think Nothing should focus on other things then to design another app that isn’t all that necessary but that’s just my opinion.

Google is gathering all kinds of data throughout their apps, so I guess just getting rid of Gboard is just one step of preventing this. Personally I don’t have any real issues with Gboard and it has actually become my favourite across my Android devices since years. There are also a bunch of other 3rd party keyboard apps available for Android.

Considering Nothing’s rather limited ressources, I’d also rather dee them focusing on other software related things, I simply don’t see the keyboard as a top priority.

I switched from Pixel 8 to the Nothing and now really miss the fully fleshed GBoard on pixel, that would insert punctuation (usually correctly), and stay on even after pressing enter. Now I’m back to the basic GBoard that is acceptable, but not great. Sol the search begins for a better voice typing keyboard, if one exists. Tried Swiftkey but it’s about the same as GBoard basic.

Naveenyakshit You can’t remove that when using gesture navigation. That button has a purpose, it’s to hide the keyboard. On navigation button the back button changes to down arrow similar to this one which hides the keyboard.

    A custom keyboard and replacement for everything related to G is needed for nothing OS. People who like pure Android can look towards Pixel. Nothing fans want the aesthetics and style of nothing, so that everything looks beautiful and harmonious, and not these default G applications that are completely out of place.

      No need of Nothing keyboard if you need an open source keyboard I personally use Heliboard it functions just like G-board.. HeliBoard is a privacy-conscious open-source keyboard, based on AOSP / OpenBoard.It does not use internet permission, and thus is 100% offline.

        there are endless keyboard apps on playstore. you can choose whatever you feel like. nothing keyboard is really out of question. I mean theres no need of that as well.

        NexPG I’d love that too – perhaps they can check the Fleksy SDK guys for that 🙂 – white label the keyboard out
