Unable to send messages using Facebook messenger - help

Brand new Nothing Phone (3a), installed Facebook Messenger, migrated all the messages and data from old phone, updated to latest OS and latest app, could send messages for a while (couple of weeks), but now can't anymore. When an attempt is made at sending the message it says "Sending" and just hangs there. All permissions are given to the app, Data Saver is off. All other messaging apps work, signal, viber, etc, etc, so there aren't any connection issues. Any ideas how to go about trying to fix the problem? Most probably some obscure setting is doing it? I can't image it's a general problem with every phone…

Jeld newer versions of messenger do help with messages not sending, but there is a whole new problem, after a while the contacts list doesn’t update with new messages, although they do show up when you enter the conversation, but you also can’t take, view and send any photos/videos, only force closing the app fixes the problem, but for a short while unfortunately

plaid Have you tried resetting the pin for the end to end encrypted chats and see if the issue persists? If not yet, you can do so by going to Messenger settings>Privacy and safety>End to end encrypted chats>Message storage> the Reset pin.

Jeld no change, this is definitely some connection problem or something

Newest messenger alpha (515.0.0.0.63) seems to have fixed everything for me.

plaid Is it still fixed for you? I tried enrolling for the beta version and it would fix the problem for like 30 minutes and then break again

Facebook Messenger is not stable on this phone. I keep getting bugs that frustrate my experience such as messages do not load when on power saving mode, messages take too long to send despite having a stable internet connection, can’t view some messages due to “not available on this version” despite having the latest version of the app.

Exiting and opening the app again don’t seem to fix the issue. When I switch from power saving to normal sometimes messages load again but it’s not consistent.

Please fix these issues as Facebook Messenger is my main messaging service.

andrejsava it was working fine but the latest update seems to have broken something again but I will keep testing and see if it was maybe just some glitch

Have you found a solution? I have the same issues on my 3a. If it’s any consolation, I found some posts on reddit that some samsung phones also have that issue, so its not just us lol

plaid I downloaded the 515 alpha from apkmirror, and not to jinx it but it works ok for me for now. I also disabled automatic updates for messenger in the play store so it doesnt break it without me noticing.
