I asked my friend: What is one thing that you liked about Nothing Phone 3 vs Nothing phone 1. He said “ Nothing”.🤓 [This upgrade deserves only this level of humour] . Because Carl Pei came from One Plus and took two plus years to make this.
While I was looking for some really cool AI stuff after this long waiting, it just did not impress me at all. The irony is that this same week another phone below 20K launched with better AI and another phone was launched below 30K with the same Chipset. If I brought both of them, still I am left with money to buy another FlagShip killer Midrange phone. 😀
Only a “pro” in a particular sector can distinguish the difference between Output ( eg Image, Video, Gaming etc) taken of a 30K-40K midrange phone with that of a 70K-80K flagship phone.
We all know that the 30K to 40K range is already filled with great product from most of the brands as Flagship killers. In that space when Nothing offered “Extra” ( Clean UI, Fresher Design, different philosophy and things like Glyph Light) people liked it. And most of those people where those who knows the value of these small things. They understand the importance of Clean UI, Enjoyed to Stand out from the crowd and had technically knowledge and clarity about what they want. Those niche people enjoys the idea of minimalism and stuffs like Dot Matrix font. You can’t impress them or rather fool them by introducing a Dot Matrix back screen and double the price of the phone. Nothing disappointed it’s core fanbase with Nothing phone 3.
In short nothing can buy “them”. But they buy “Nothing” if it’s “Something” of a kind. Not just another “somewhat” Flagship phone with a Dot Matrix Display in the back for a flagship price. Anybody can get the best hardware specs and make a Flagship phone and sell it with a very high price tag . The real game is in making a FlagShip killer.
