💡can we make a phone 4/phone 4a entirely based on community???

Let’s keep a contest to design the phone and take notes of what our community exactly wants Nothing to look like

Use ai and humans to identify repeating patterns in every submission and voila 💡 ,

To be honest I am bored with Iphone-ish design let’s keep it fresh shall we?

I don’t think a company this big will let a bunch of hooligans design a $800+ product. A competition for the best glyph toy would be more reasonable. Maybe you could win a free phone or something fun.

That’s the design magic of Nothing for me - it feels strange but in the words of Benoit Blanc, it compels me!

Smii While symmetry might be seen as uninspired, it’s rarely considered poor design. Your growing acceptance of Phone 3’s eccentric aesthetic highlights the subjective nature of design perception. It’s interesting how familiarity can shift perception, isn’t it? Often, what initially seems eccentric or unusual in design becomes more appealing, or at least more accepted, the more we’re exposed to it. This happens a lot with new trends or innovative aesthetics. I’m also getting used to the Phone 3’s unique asymmetrical design.

pixcel25 3A was good but I don’t understand what type Phone 3 is. Here community members give input for the team. Not me. But they have given good inputs in past days. Did they work upon it ? Looking at Phone 3, I would say No. And how can community edition be a real thing. You dont take input from your large no. of users but only select 1 or few to give a similar design back.

emenemy I recommend reviewing the thread. Smii, the user I was addressing, is a proponent of the new design, and I’m personally growing accustomed to it as well. The decision to purchase this device over an iPhone is subjective. For me, the price relative to the specifications is the main obstacle, not the design.

_Hush_ In current times when lots of phone are releasing every day, there is no time to get accustomed to a product. You either like it or dislike it. You buy it, you use it or else you move on with some other brand or phone.

When everyone is hating this new design, why are you getting accustomed to it. Tell it to brand openly and let them revise their product.

iPhone & Samsung designs are practical. Tomorrow if I give you the cameras on 4 corners, will you buy it after getting accustomed to it after 4 years or buy a latest iPhone with a practical design immediately.

It’s also not true that “everyone” is hating on the design. I don’t understand the vitriol. You don’t like it! That’s fine.
I was excited for the new Pixel 9a, and a bit disappointed when it was announced. I didn’t buy it.

If you don’t like this, that’s fine - just don’t buy it. If it truly isn’t a commercial success, Nothing will learn from that. But there’s also the danger of echo chambers, that this forum contains the die-hard Nothing fans who perhaps aren’t as easily convinced. But it doesn’t mean that nobody likes the new design.

@_Hush_ is absolutely right - it’s a fascinating thing how design is subjective and your perception changes over time. I really didn’t like the new design when it leaked - I went and complained to my wife how odd it was. Now it’s released, and I’ve had time to get used to it, I actually quite like what they’re doing. For me, the specs argument isn’t a big one - I don’t know enough about phone hardware design to have a clear read on whether the better processor would be worth it, or whether it would have pushed the cost up even higher - there’s lots of unknowns to us end users. Even us end users who could be considered technical experts - I don’t make or design phones, and neither do you - so we can’t pretend we understand the ins and outs of creating a device like this.

The community will simmer down, the new thing will be accepted, we’ll all move on. It’s no drama, it’s a new phone. If you don’t like, don’t buy it.

Honestly I felt the same about the phone 3a pro, when I saw it and I like it now same with the phone 3

I feel a lot of the initial outrage especially about design will die down
