November month security patch for nothing phone 2

I have not enrolled my nothing phone 2 in the beta testing but I was wondering when can we get the November month security patch as my phone is still on October month patch or will need to update to beta to get the update?

Get used to not getting updates.

It’s not like Pixel phones where you get updates all the time, very seldom get any updates for anything on Nothing products.

Security updates are generally rolled out on at least a bi-monthly basis, with each one being dated 3-4 weeks before the roll out. Updates are generally not announced before the rollout so we do not know when the next one will start rolling out.

For context, the last stable update for the NP2 started rolling out in the 31st October, with the October security patch, which is just over a month ago.

GordonLutz On what basis do you claim Nothing Phones are not getting updates? Here is a graph with when previous updates were released, I don’t understand what you mean by ‘not getting updates’.

I was kinda being sarcastic but coming from Pixel phones I’m used to getting lots of updates.

Just seems to take forever on Nothing Phone.

Oh, according to your graph, there’s been hardly any for Nothing Phone 2.

Security updates are important and last one was beginning of October, so obviously we’re way behind.

There have been updates most months, I can’t see how that’s leaving people waiting forever. Sure Pixels might get more, but Pixels are also made by Google which have a vastly greater amount of resources they can assign to developing and pushing updates. As I mentioned, updates were promised bi-monthly, and Nothing is managing to push them with a greater frequency than that most of the time.

And with NP2, it’s had updates in July, August, September and October after being released in July. That’s not ‘hardly any’, that’s ‘every month except for November’. Plus Closed/Open Beta versions.

‏‏‎Chris‏‏‎ yeah you are right but the update don’t resolve any bugs poor speaker quality and touch response is pathetic a four year old phones touch is too good when compared to np2. People are complaining about the touch issue but there isn’t any update regarding that issue and u people compare ur devices with pixels and iphone and u are charging premium so u have to deliver good updates and regular updates.

You will get updates on bimonthly basis.. we can expect the next update by January mid with Android 14 and nothing os 2.5 stable

I’ve received the security releases dated November 1st. Do we have a timeline on the latest play store updates. Have not received any security updates for December, manually updating phone spins around and states up to date here in the United States. When can we expect the Dec/Jan update as the Jan update fixes a ton of zero days and severe security flaws. Thank you to the dedication of the Nothing Team! Much appreciated 👍

Am on the Nov 23 security update too.

Jan update will prolly come in February.

Apparently N follows a bi monthly update cycle.

Keep in mind, if you updated to Android 14, that broke the OTA update.

So now, you have to disable your SIM card and update over WiFi to get system updates. There are A LOT of people that have this issue, myself included. Disabling the SIM and updating over WiFi is currently the only way I can update my phone until they fix this blunder. But yes, the updates don’t come as fast as Pixel phones so if you don’t see them updated as much, don’t worry too much.

Magicdesign Because it still works for some and not for others, as I said, myself included. It’s borked, along with other issues in the update. Android 13 was stable, 14 is frankly not. I had no troubles updating OTA when on 13. The day I updated to 14 was the last day I could receive security updates.

After looking around, I found the answer on Reddit of all places. When I disabled the SIM card and tried to update over WiFi, I got my updates on the first try. It was the only way I could also get 2.5.1a. Like I said, a LOT of people are having the same issues with updating when they go to 14. If I could roll back to 13, I would.

This was just done today. The error is the one I get when trying to do a simple update if my SIM card is turned on. The other is a successful update via WiFi when the SIM is turned off which should never have to be done for OTA.
