Let’s exclude mobile phones as I think many of us are on the same page with that one! Unless you have a really good/unique reason of course.

Personally I think smart assistants are the one thing for me. Even though we haven’t seen their full potential yet with conversational AI improvements and further control throughout your home, I use mine every day for controlling other devices, learning new information and quickly asking things about weather, calendar, local businesses, etc. which saves time.

Whenever I’m away from home I miss not having to get out of bed to adjust the lights 😄

What tech can you not live without?

adbo Oh good one! Or should I say, good(1) chuckles

There’s plenty of kitchen tech I couldn’t live without, mainly my coffee machine of course, but imagine not having a fridge!

I could do without a mobile phone (as in the basic elements, SMS/calling) but to be without the web side of phones is difficult. Plus the other elements we now use mobile phones for - calendars, social media, calculators, diaries, torches etc.

I actually think living without an NFC enabled credit/debit card would be a huge miss in today’s world. In the UK especially, I can’t remember the last time I had any physical cash or my wallet on me as everything is touch enabled.

Louis ☕️ You’re right, I didn’t even think about things such as fridges and freezers. Having to survive without those nowadays would be a nightmare.

Same here in terms of contactless cash too - it’s just so convenient. I remember when I was in London a few years ago and saw buskers with contactless machines for donations! That was mind blowing

adbo IKR even the buskers have kept up with technology! It used to be that only black taxis would really accept cash but nowadays, even they are contactless/card payments.

Unless you’re in an arcade, it really does seem like the days of physical cash are almost over for the majority of day-to-day transactions.

adbo Going down to the beach and wasting all your 2p coins on those never ending, scamming machines that you always trying and bash to hope your chances of winning increase…Yeah that was my childhood right there lol!

arpan2308 @adbo for real though, imagine how difficult some things would be without internet these days! We’d have to go back to map reading, relying on mail to send things and meeting up with people would be a massive pain.

I’ve read (but might be wrong so anybody out there please correct me) that Norway only accept cashless payment now in public sectors places e.g. hospitals and cash is no longer a legal tender and plan to be a cashless country in the next few years. I personally never carry cash as I can pay by phone or my Fitbit which has a 5 day battery life so I’ve always got a way to pay on me!

In this day and age I couldn’t live without my Spotify, I have it on all day whilst working at my desk but also for podcasts during my daily run, or in the shower and even some tunes through my smart speaker whilst making breakfast first thing in the morning or washing up last thing at night.

RobIgo what is cash? Lol! It’s quite mad how contactless has quickly become the main source of payments here in the UK. I can’t remember the last time I went to a cash machine to withdraw.

Like yourself, my payments these days are all made via my watch or phone via Google Pay.

Louis ☕️ definitely. Even I don’t remember last time I withdrew cash. Google pay and Paytm has taken over India so much that even as little as 10 INR is paid through them.

Even my local restaurant has a QR code where you can tip the staff which I love as I never carry cash!
