Google is obviously collecting as they cannot perform the requested search without it. It’s like I (user) ask you (Google) a question (data) - how are you going to answer if you don’t get/collect that question?

Google is collecting basically everything you do on your device. That being said, if anything, they want to keep your data as safe as possible because that’s how they make profits, not by selling your data but by using it for targeted advertising etc. It’s like Coca Cola selling recipe for their most famous drink - won’t happen.

Online searches are online, on-device searches are on-device. The former is pretty self-explanatory why you have to be online. The latter is easily verifiable by going fully offline and performing any search, like searching for a random app, all works fine.

tmb10101 Glad to hear it’s working! And yes, excellent, the UK and you are supported then, but it’s probably just a staggered release so you will get it officially through the Play Store soon enough (fingers crossed just in case 🤞).

I just typed essential search apk and downloaded it from APKmirror. From there found the file on the phone clicked it and it updated the app for me
