Nothing Phone (3) photography

I need to get quick photos off as I live in a small city and have two children. CMF1_hacker hey ! Was just wondering if enabling the ultra xdr makes the photos look dark and weird on the phone 3

I have phone 3a and everytime I take a picture with something bright in the background, the picture is dark , and the subject is super bright making everything looks worse . Is it same on phone 3?

But if I turn it off it looks fine

Is this a software issue or something that can’t be fixed?

I have it turned off, although the post processing could be improved.

The image on viewfinder definitely looks more crispy than actual processed one.

krizxjr I agree. I’ve been reading elsewhere about extracting the most RAW image with GCam and even there some post-processing is occuring that cannot be negated, unless I’m wrong as that thread was somewhat old.

I wanted to catalogue a few photos from a walkabout with UXDR off, using not more than 6x with only the preset Zooms used, the default photo mode with a single press for AE/AF). I was hoping that people would use these as a comparison against when the UXDR is on. HDR is set on AUTO.

Nice pictures. Interestingly, pictures 10 and 11 in the reservoir have a slight glare from the sun. I have captured a few photos during my holiday that look like they have a similar glare. Will share them soon

CMF1_hacker the cameras are really good , but how much time did you take to click the picture? or was this out of the pocket shot?

pixcel25 I only post quick direct snaps that are out-of-pocket with no editing and the default camera app as that would be most consistent with real-world usage

I feel obliged to test the NP3 in real world usage as it was provided as part of Community Reviewer Programme and I’m only going to show what the phone could do in quick action.

I think I’ve taken around 120k digital photos in my life and being able to understand the framing and light immediately and having a 3D orientation of how subjects and light work instantly is the largest gain from that experience. I usually use two dials on my dSLRs and control the f-stop with one and the shutter speed with the other. However, I find changing these way to slow with a phone as it ruins the ambience of a happenstance situation. It’s extremely useful in low-light situations with dSLR and instantaneous though, so I don’t mind there. It also controls the EV which is nice.

I take tons of photos of people as well but don’t post them here as I don’t want tons of photos of my family/friends on here. So you here get animals, some landscapes and a lot of buildings.

Settings: default zooms up to 6x, auto HDR, UXDR off, default camera app and Photo mode. Testing the HDR video versus not.

Location: this is a post-German meal tradition of going for a walk with no destination on a Sunday when the weather is good. It ended up about 8 miles through the forest until we arrived at a different village with a festival going and then a walk home (4 and 6 yo children had no issues with it).
