The latest update for Google phone dialer looks ugly modedit: removed

To add to it, now it does not allow me to record calls at all and says not available at your location 🙄 whatever that means…

It is high time that nothing creates a dialer app, with basic features like call recording. If the Google policy restricts the call recording function, you can give an option to trigger the nothing’s recorder app widget when the call starts to automatically record it.

But something needs to be done about the phone dialler app. It’s almost 2026 now.

today, after 2 days , automatically, this error is gone
but i see many threads on X where people facing similar issues, it is not consistent

I used to use Xiaomi with call recording in Europe. I prefer N Dial myself but don’t record as it never gets to that point of needing it in my life.

Don’t get the hate of the new Phone UI in Google Dialer, but it would definitely be nice to have a proper Nothing dialer app by now

Where are you from buddy? I guess as per your name u seems to be from India. And I’m too. Not only me but whole world is liking this google dialer update because it made it to look closer to googles call dialer. And it looks beautiful. And we both are from India then why it’s showing you that it’s not available for your location? Mine one is working fantastic. And secondly bro nothing has already provided their own recorder where you can record calls without issues even if call dialer doesn’t support. Then why the hell you need other app. And even if nothing comes up with their own dialer it will be basically the same as Google’s dialer but fonts will be like n fonts with dark theme applied on it. that’s it which isn’t even bad. I feel you need to resolve your location issue and restart your phone.

SiyonSavalajkar How do you record calls with the recorder ? When i try recording instantly get paused when there is a call and you can’t change that. Maybe it’s because i’m in France, Europe you think? Or i miss something?

SiyonSavalajkar I agree it looks really good and I think the problem he is facing is due to some other reason few months ago I had the same issue but it got resolved on its own.

SiyonSavalajkar No there is a location based issue I started seeing it from the mid of October 2025.

Uninstall the caller dialer update from Play Store

Then will go back to older UI

Stereobasic i have no idea buddy what is the issue with your recorder app or location issue but u need to show it to your nearbye service center for it. Mine one just works great. Whenever call comes i hit the recorder n it records everything. And one more thing, in new update of Google dialer you get two choices. First: next person can know that your recording the call or second: there is another option in the dialer setting where without any announcement you can record the call. Gp through the settings.

Stereobasic hey, there are two types of widgets available for recording one is “mic only” and another is “mic and system”. In your case you choose mic only widget which only record surrounding voices and stops when you try to record system voice. So if you want to record calls choose second widget with both mic and system facility.

I am using the record widget like this and it works with that, issue is its always a manual step to click on this after you pick a call.

shahilchauhann impossible to find the second widget you are talking about. There is only one. When i click it say “select recording” but there is no option, only Ambiant recoding available.

Yes ofcourse,we can’t record conference call or when you are in call and you get second call it won’t record, that has to come in the dialler interface.
