Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed follow-up. You’ve raised a few points I’d like to address.
I believe a healthy community thrives on different types of contributions. Some members create incredible free, open-source projects from GitHub, which is fantastic. Others, like myself, build on community ideas to create polished, convenient, and user-friendly apps that are accessible to everyone—including those who aren’t comfortable with developer tools. This project is in that second category. The “co-creation” wasn’t about a GitHub repository; it was about the dozens of public iterations on the UI, features driven by direct user feedback.
You’re right that a prototype can be generated quickly. However, taking this app from a concept to a stable, reliable product that works around specific OS quirks and hardware limitations has taken a significant amount of real-world development and debugging time. The small price point reflects that effort and helps support future updates. It’s an option for people who value a simple, ready-to-use solution. So I don’t think you get to say about my time being efficient or not. And whether I should be allowed to get a reimbursment or not depends on the people who might be interested in buying.
Ultimately, I’ve been transparent about the project, its price, and the development journey. My request would be to ask questions related to the app, talking about my time inefficiency is not a correct way to talk about someone. Im sure people might agree with this. Thanks again for the discussion.
