Anyone else wish Nothing OS had OriginOS-style depth and transparency Deesign ?

Hey everyone 👋

I recently saw Vivo’s new OriginOS 6 update, and I’ve got to admit — it looks insanely polished!

The whole “Light & Shadow Space” design with glassy translucency, soft depth layers, and animated icons feels so fluid and alive.

I’m currently using a Nothing Phone 2, and I love Nothing OS’s minimal aesthetic — it’s clean and classy.

But part of me wonders 👀 — what if Nothing OS added a bit more “depth” like those subtle glass effects, adaptive widgets, or even some dynamic island-style status animations (without losing the clean vibe)?

Has anyone here tried recreating OriginOS 6’s look on their Nothing Phone using launchers or icon packs?

Would love to see setups or ideas from you all!

You thought that Nothing OS would do a full 180 in their design language and aesthetics? It’s like saying that you bought tickets for 2026 concert of Taylor Swift thinking she would fully switch to K-Pop until then.

Glass effects are just effects like RGB hype in PCs, unecessarly distracting and consuming resources which can be used better for other features or snappiness , doesnt match with the idea of minimalism at all. Honestly it’s a cancer.

The interface should be clean and legible, and now it’s easier to read than transparent or glass ones. The depth effect on the lock screen already seems less intrusive to me, however.

This is the final big update and it’s just minor gimmicks… kinda feels like not what we paid for.

I expected consistent feature growth - not just bug fixes and minimal design tweaks.

10 years of looking literally the same, identical (sans rounded edges as the sole change).

Nothing exists since 2020 and they’ve made more changes since NOS 1.0 to NOS 4.0 than any other brand in such a short time span.

Nothing keeps evolving, however there are little steps and quite a lot here on the community keep a keen eye on how these steps are looking and the company regularly gets some flak for their choices. Many here particular purchased a Nothing device because of the design and style of both hard- and software. They enjoy the aesthetics and don’t want another rip off from big players like Apple or Samsung.

For example when Nothing decided to ditch the iconic N-Dot font style, people went crazy and there was a wave of complains, even though Nothing was aiming for a more cleaner, mature look when changing the font. Old time Nothing users simply weren’t happy.

The most recent example is the Glyph Matrix, not everybody is really liking it. The glyph interface got many people into Nothing and the new matrix style is a drastic change from the original design. I for one am also one of those who aren’t satisfied with the new direction.

By introducing liquid glass like effects, copying dynamic island or Samsung’s colorful candy shop UI, they are beginning to alienate their core customer base more. Many chose Nothing because it’s different, because they have a clear design language, not because they are copying others.

I don’t even understand why are people here in Nothing community so obsessed with that 💩. The whole point of it is to solve a problem that only Apple has due to their incapability to make a small camera punch hole. Theirs is absolutely MASSIVE, so to not be annoying they at least made it somewhat useful by expanding notifications and such around it, thus the Dynamic Island. I mean, wtf:

Are some people here in Nothing community so much blinded by their love towards Apple that they can’t even see that huge camera bar lmao? It is SIX TIMES (SIX!!!) wider than the hole on the Nothing phone(s)! 😂

Even Apple always tries to hide it with very dark wallpapers whenever they announce their new iPhones:

Wish- I know, but nothing ever exists until Apple invents it, unfortunately. Then they “invent” that and rename it under some different tag to sound mighty, such as ProMotion Display 🙃 I don’t even doubt that if there was any 60 Hz Nothing/CMF phone that people here would request from Nothing to add not 120 Hz panels but ProMotion Display instead. It’s weird.

If Tim says it’s the best and the most capable in the history then it must be true. He even said something similar about how the iPhone 15 is the first phone (not iPhone but phone) ever that packs a USB-C charging port, I’ll try to find it later (got this one saved already so I just uploaded). No USB-C charging has ever existed before 2023, clearly, because we were all waiting for Apple to make that come true 🤩
