Background Apps Pausing on Nothing Phone 3 – Anyone Else?

Whenever I’m playing music or downloading something in a background app, it stops after a few seconds until I reopen the app. Music pauses and downloads freeze. Is anyone else facing this issue on the Nothing Phone 3? I tried reporting it through Settings but, as usual, got the standard “visit service centre” reply.

Do you have battery optimisation set to unrestricted for that app? And when you check the active apps in notifications, does it show up as a background process?

Anonymous1004 Yes. It does show in the active apps. But only thing is Music/Download stops once I come out from that app after a minute or two.

It might be helpful if you could give some actual examples of apps which are showing this behavior. On my Nothing Phone (3), I am an avif Audible and Spotify user, I also regularly listen to my MP3 with the MissingCore Music app - never encountered any issue with audio stopped to play when an app gets moved to the background. Also Audible and Prime Video keep downloading my stuff while being in the background.

There are some apps which obviously are designed to stop when minimized: YouTube for example or playing a video / audio on Discord.

At this point I could only guess there is some kind of battery setting which might be the culprit here. Go to settings, battery and disable any energy saving modes, disable intelligent battery for now and also go to each app's properties and check if they have background running enabled.

Do you have any 3rd party battery observation or optimization apps installed?

Does it happen when listening via headphones (BT / wired), right on the phone or both?

Coldpaw This is happening with Telegram and Amazon Music app. If I keep somthing to download on Telegram app and minimise it for few mins. Download would be paused until I reopen the app. Similar issue with Amazon Music. If I am playing music in Amazon Music app(on phone speaker) and minimise it for few minutes. Then Music stops on its own until I open the app and play it again/press play from notification bar.

Download pause issue is occurring for most of the apps,Not just Telegram. I observed the same issue with Youtube(premium) and chrome as well.

I had recorded the issue and sent to the support team. As usual "Visit nearest service centre" reply was received

No restrictions on battery usage. I have not restricted any app for background usage and confirmed the same for each app which is having this issue. Also no 3rd Party Battery related apps installed.
