Battery cycles and life (NP3) 100 cycles

I've been around a lot of batteries in technology (but remain to cheap to buy an electric car) and wanted to post my thoughts on the NP3 battery. I ran my previous 2012 rMBP battery for 3000 cycles before recycling the machine (60% capacity remaining).

I have finally hit 100 cycles in the settings:

Initially when this phones was released we saw 1-2% battery decline over the first 20 cycles or so and a lot of discussion.

This was referred to as a bug and with an update everyone's phone stayed at 100%.

Now after 100 cycles, mine still reads 100%, which I also think isn't accurate.

What is everyone else seeing for capacity remaining?

Battery life is still quite good and I usually get around 10h SoT as shown by AccuBattery and BatteryGuru … the screen off is a little high as I use my CMFW3P and Headphones Pro via BT with the screen off.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

When I have a moment, I'll use ADB to pull some battery data.

My NP3 shows 57 completed cycles and 100% battery health. I am always using 90% charge limited and usually try recharging the phone before it drops below 20%.

hak019910 Not all phones are supporting the native battery information check, as far as I know, it's only the NP3. I don't know if it is possible to make it available via a software update on other phones.

It depends on your location, you might not have access.

Coldpaw it's also restricted to certain locations, i.e. the EEA firmware I believe.

How do you get the battery drain that low? This is my average. For a battery larger than 5000mah, i'm quite disappointed tbh.

Alex that's funny, there's people here who post and complain that 2-3% overnight is too much.

I usually use Bedtime mode from 23.00 to 05.00 which I think goes greyscale and stops all notifications. Mine was lower before but I have BT on all the time to capture my HR every minute and receive it from my watch.

Interestingly, I've been getting up at 04.30 and set my alarm for that time and it seems that my Bedtime mode has changed itself to compensate.

edit: I'm also selective about the apps I install. No FB, IG, SC, TT but I have WA and Messenger installed. I find those that I don't install are I optimised battery hogs and if I want to.use my accounts, I access them through browser. Having said that, I'm not a battery miser user and just use the phone regularly and often run Sky Sports for F1 and do a ton of streaming through it (YT, NOW, Disney, Netflix, Amazon, paramount) and I only let my children play games through it and I don't play any myself.

My phone 3 is at 50 complete cycles. I don't charge it every day,.I'm a moderate user. The battery health is at 100%

Jb233 interesting, what system fonts are you running? As they look different than mine, not better, not worse and I'm more curious than anything else.

I'm also curious if the update just simply outputs the battery capacity percentage at 100% forever, as there was a wider variety of capacity percentages before "the bug was fixed."

You can check with accubattery or battery health app from monoscape on playstore…
