I actually opened up dialogue with Amazon to consider returning the headphones this week.
I was going to see what looked appealing on Black Friday.
After installing the first songs I put on were Mungos Hifi, if you know you know.. I had to turn bass down! I got shivers!
I’ve got a mix of SoundGuys, Drunkpods and LTT Labs profiles. Each retain a massive swing and their profiles havent been swamped out in these changes.
But they definitely feel warmer. They have character again. Not just off the shelf cheapo anymore.
Even with ANC, they feel alive.
Volume is maybe 10-20% off where I’d like.
But I prefer to have headphones max and dial back. Not have to ramp up and up.

The into was always meant to be deep, a stomach roar. It previously lacked.
Banjo is an instrument that I find headphones often off the mark with. My Planars hit them perfectly, Momentum’s probably 2nd, these are very close and need rich warm, sound and are easy to be drowned out.
Kingfishr - I cried,i wept. Has more going on, faster pace, delicate sounds of the banjo do get suffocated, but turning off bass enhancement and swapping profiles brought it back.
for context I’m always happy to swap settings per album, genre I listen too. I’m not a set and forget person.
But I would say Drunkpods v9.1 would round these out maybe not for perfectionists.
Thunder Jackson - Love Sock Doctor, again there’s warmth. which wasn’t there before. Vocals get lost abit, but tweak the settings and bring them back.
I’ve listened to some Delta Heavy, and Subfocus EDM, one of Drunkpods older spec works better. Need to dig out which one.
Conclusion
I wouldn’t say is miraculous and made these best in class,
But has definitely stopped me returning them.
I think I’m also seeing how important the diversity in profiles, previously on recent profiles it wasn’t that important I’d say.
But on the review it definitely is important and I wouldn’t say you can comfortably set and forget a single profile at the moment, but make them worth keeping and usable.
