Nothing OS 4.0 - stable update feedback

Instead of introducing new features, the latest Nothing OS update has brought a wave of bugs — within just three days I’m already facing multiple issues: 1)Android Auto (via cable) frequently disconnects and reconnects on its own. 2)when that doesn’t happen Android Auto freezes completely after a few minutes of driving, forcing me to unplug and reconnect the cable;. 3)several apps are failing to update in the Play Store, starting with one app immediately after the update and now increasing to eight apps over three days. 4)Background/minimized apps are not functioning properly — music stops playing and Telegram downloads pause within 1–2 minutes unless the app remains on the active screen. I’ve already reported all issues through the Settings → Feedback option with logs and evidence (except the Android Auto freeze since recording isn’t possible while driving), but no proper resolution has been provided so far — the response is repeatedly the same generic troubleshooting steps and “visit service centre,” meaning the issue is not being escalated to the concerned technical team and is getting lost in non-technical customer support communication.

No issues for Android Auto for me on the Phone 3a and CMF2P. I travel for a living, in a new rental car every other week, so I am quite literally in new cars all the time connecting to Android Auto. I feel like this may be your car, not the device? I can explicitly remember only one time this occurred but I am in so many different cars I could not tell you the make/model but it has happened once, the reconnecting and connecting, but it was the car not my device. I tried it on my Samsung Fold 5 I have for work when this occurred and it happened there too.

Womey It was working all fine until I updated to Nothing OS 4.0. even 5-6 hours drive it used to work fine. But the moment I updated to Nothing OS 4.0 it stopped working for me in my Nothing Phone 3.

sumukh_kulkarni3 That’s unfortunate 😕 hopefully you find some answers here, but in my experience even on NOS 4.0 beta for the 3a I have no Android Auto bugs here.

Maybe try hard-resetting your phone, while plugged in and the car is running. So it reboots connected to your car. Maybe see if that helps with connectivity, at least for now?

Coldpaw Try Telegram and Amazon Music. You will get the issue for sure. I have also shared screen recording with the team

@Daniel Changing title to Feedback makes sense when feedbacks are considered by the Product team. In this case it’s not. I have a mail chain going on with support team with some irrelevant answers from the team. So it’s not a feedback.

Telegram thing happens in my other phones as well, telegram x works fine still…

I’m using Nothing 3. also in the UK and no stable update yet. But I will await patiently until the update comes through. I will let others get it right 1st before I do 😆

terry_Rebel I would not recommend updating it unless these issues are irrelevant for your usage.

terry_Rebel I’ve been using NOS 4 Stable on my Phone (3) since it rolled out (got it quick!!) and I’ve had absolutely NO issues with my phone. It’s been great.

Look at the reply what I received from customer care support team for the apps failing to update in play store issue. Solution to the issue is the issue itself. ROFL!!

Update Google Apps

Ensure that all Google apps (including Google Drive and Google TV) are up to date. Open the Google Play Store, search for the apps, and click “Update” if available.

terry_Rebel I have reported all the issues. I figured out that “The apps failing to update in Play Store” issue is due to Private space feature. If you add any app in the private space and currently if the private space is locked then Play Store will not update those apps. Support team is currently giving me workaround instead of fixing the issue. I will keep the thread updated if anything gets fixed.

sumukh_kulkarni3 if it’s a private app, it shouldn’t be updated by the App Store, as someone with your phone and access to the App Store can then see that you have it on your phone. Sounds like it’s working correctly.

CMF1_hacker I don’t think so!! Private space should only restrict people from accessing it. Update has nothing to do with the access. If that’s the case. We will have many apps failing to update everytime and won’t vanish unless we unlock it and then update it. This was the behaviour in earlier Nothing OS as well.

sumukh_kulkarni3 I think that if the goal is to have it hidden from view, then having the App Store show that it’s installed would defeat that purpose or? I don’t use private space but if I did, I’d like it to work that way, i.e. no auto update or trace that I downloaded the app available to prying eyes.

CMF1_hacker Then it should be completely off the play store. But playstore is currently showing all my private apps as Updated failed. So it’s the wrong behaviour it’s exhibiting and exposing all my private apps to outside world as “Failed to update apps” list. So it’s defeating the whole Private space purpose!!

CMF1_hacker I am reporting with logs, screen record, screenshots everything!! But sadly no proper response from the Support team. There has been a very very long mail chain going on where I am tired of explaining the issue to them. No one seems to bother. Let’s see how it goes.

sumukh_kulkarni3 if that’s the case, then you have to admit that the PS is broken and move to a different device if this is an issue, i.e. domestic issue and hidden phones or prying parents, we can be that way sometimes, well most times.
