Leaving the Nothing brand forever

Due to multiple issues faced with this brand in the last 3 years, I have finally decided to move on with other brand, possibly Apple or Vivo. Reasons: 1. After sale services of Nothing and it's sub brand in my area are pathetic. 2. Update timelines are gimmicky and not at all feels like an update. 3. All products battery life is worsen with each update and every time service centre says, only your product has issues. 4. How come 6 different products have the exact issues related to battery, even after product replacment? 5. Still company recomend me to put 4 to 5 stars rating? It's purely begging. 6. I chose this brand due to its promises and ideaology in the initial phase but now it seems Nothing is going in the wrong direction 7. Final Goodbye. Will never buy Nothing Products at all. Good Things: 1. Hardware quality apart from display and battery is good. 2. Software experience is smooth and optimised but less features 3. No spyware as of now, while writing this comment. I hope this comment will stay here.

Amudhan_Sundararajan if you’d like some proper help, why not post the data?

Including the Services at the end of the list. And then we can make a deduction. Meta services/apps are horribly unoptimised. Also, we’d need to know % drain with screen on/off and the amount of time spent in deep sleep. The easiest way is to post screenshots from the Battery setting and then from AccuBattery and/or Battery Guru.

I’d hardly blame that an NOTHING though as that sounds like an app issue.

NOTHING ALLURE the OS itself is great (NOS 3.5 is peak OS). 4.0 and beyond are focusing on PLAYGROUND as an app/sharing store and that is an excellent decision. We don’t need en-crap-ification of NOS 3.5 with shiny bits that all other brands have, which makes sense to move to them if that’s what you want.

Bought phone 1, phone 2, ear 1, ear (2024)

But from last year onwards. I was slowing planning on starting to move when they started the change the company policies for software updates and. Now when I heard about the ads and things coming. I now don’t have any hope in this.

For me. There was no issue of battery .

But there where issue on screen like green tint on phone 1

Evrythings else was soo smooth. But now updates feel like nothing. There are no new features (phone 2). Even if some feature came to the OS. It will only end up in phone 2 like last or something. For example the camera prest, essential search(I don’t even know if it will come officialy to phone 2).

So much disappointment with how company is changing. (Yes i know it is for the growth and other maybe) but nah. It now just feel like any other company phones. Especially the new phones. Pure nothing designs are gone. The transparency is slowing fading away. And everything.

So. Bye nothing. (Will stay here until phone 2 life ends btw; I love this phone). But not more new nothings.

themountofmint try to see which apps are “eating” the battery, so maybe this helps improve battery life.

My situation really isn’t about using battery-hungry apps. I’ve already disabled or removed everything I don’t need. I even uninstalled unnecessary bloatwares and YouTube through ADB and just watch videos on Firefox now. I don’t use Instagram or Facebook either—the only Meta app I have is WhatsApp.

According to my battery stats, the main culprit is Firefox, which unfortunately I can’t uninstall. Its optimization is honestly pretty poor. Even in the screenshot you shared, Chrome used about 18% of the battery usage with just 5 minutes of background activity. That doesn’t exactly look like a well-optimized setup either, so it’s not surprising my phone is struggling too.

My point isn’t that everyone’s battery life should be identical… it’s that even with relatively light usage on my end (roughly 2 hours on Firefox, 45 minutes of gaming, 30 minutes browsing Amazon, a few quick check-ins, my watch app, antivirus and some basic system stuff like Play Services and the Launcher), the battery still drains quite a bit. So blaming the user doesn’t really make sense, especially when everyone’s setup and app behavior can vary from one device to another.

I’ve already optimized everything possible. What’s left are just the apps I actually use day to day. That’s why I’m saying the drain could be real—it’s not just “user error.”

18% out of the battery spent since last charge, not 18% of actual battery. If you used your phone for 5% charge (500 mah), and chrome used 1.8% (90 mah), the stats will still show it as 18

The battery stat in settings is really confusing and you should use Accubattery or a similar app to find what’s draining

That’s concerningly low. I play ZZZ, which is as demanding as wuwa or genshin, and drain 80% to 10% in 3 hours. You’re getting that much with only few minutes

I do understand how battery stats work.

I wasn’t talking about Chrome using 18% of the total battery, I was talking about it using 18% of the battery usage since last full charge, exactly as the screenshot shows.

Her device dropped roughly 60%, and Chrome took 18% of that 60%, which is not a tiny drain (~540mah). My point was simply that Chrome using that much with almost no screen time doesn’t look well optimized.

mialee Es ist noch eine sehr kleine Firma und solch kleine Firmen kommen oft nicht mit so viel “Ansturm” an, Nothing ist halt für seine Berühmtheit sehr klein. Über nothing reden manche auch einfach nur weil der CEO von Oneplus kommt. Auf jeden Fall: Nothing hat wenige Mitarbeiter und es ist klar das es mehr probleme gibt als bei samsung oder Google die schon seit fast 2 Jahrzehnten im Geschäft drin sind. Also bitte warten sie doch noch ein wenig ab und behalten sie, wenn sie dann doch gehen, nothing mit positiven Erfahrungen in Erinnerung.

Lout_Of_Order there are some fundamental problem with the software. Altho it is smooth and polished. When you keep here light coloured wallpaper on the lock screen, the lock screen clock face will not turn into dark font.

ArnoldMelvinXavier I don’t use a particularly light lockscreen wallpaper so that’s not an issue for me, but I get your point and I agree, in an ideal world it should adapt to make it clearly visible at all times.

They should atleast acknowledge the issue should user atleast know nothing working on it but they are not
