hexagonal707x They aren’t smartphone manufacturers or OS developers. You aren’t comparing apples to apples. Speaking of Apple, looks at the company. They shine coz of their OS and apps. So what’s the harm if say Nothing had 10 strong native apps in their design and functions for their smartphones?
Nothing please do not create your version system apps.
Ali Fakhruddin Then there will be duplicate apps, since we already have apps for it and this company will soon turn into OnePlus.
adbo Absolutely!!! We all users want a Nothing-styled Gallery app, Calculator app, Dialer app, Notes app and last but not least Message app which would be a game changer for the Nothing ecosystem.
Being a UI/UX designer, tbh Nothing UI is one the best User interfaces in the entire smartphone industry, no other smartphone brands are close to it not even Apple or Samsung ( too much customization available but not optimised well ).
Nothing UI fluidity is unmatched , I hope we will experience such creative apps in our Nothing Phone soon

Ali Fakhruddin Speaking of Apple, even I like Apple, no doubt about it. Apple can create whatever they want because they only have to take care of their devices. They have the hardware and software full control in and out.
Play Store is by Google. So what you gonna change that too or what?. You want a Nothing store?. Android is already a fragmented OS. Don’t add more bloatware into it.
Google apps are streamlined and gets update faster. I don’t have to wait for Nothing to update it. Don’t try to fix something that is not broken.
I have nothing against Nothing styled apps fyi. But once you get it. Will they make the Google apps uninstallable. That’s the big ?.
Or it will create duplicate apps.
They should definitely have Google contacts sync in their contacts/ dialer app or it’s not worth it at all.
hexagonal707x If everyone thought the same, we won’t have any innovations left. As far as I remember Nothings vision is to make tech fun again. And looking at Android in general it’s become quite boring. So if they can, then they should. I personally hate Google products so I don’t chip in to that.
Ali Fakhruddin I’m not saying to not Innovate. Did I ever had a problem with Nothing widgets or Nothing X app? NO.
I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEM BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T INTERFERE WITH THE ALREADY INSTALLED APPS. THEY ONLY ADDED TO THE EXPERIENCE.
hexagonal707x Almost 90% of Nothing users are craving for Native apps. So if the company can, why not?
The problem starts here..
Example: OnePlus File Manager and Files from Google and other apps
When OnePlus started introducing their own apps while there was already equivalent Google apps.
“THEY NEVER MADE THE GOOGLE APPS UNINSTALLABLE , SO YOU ARE NOW STUCK WITH TWO APPS THAT DO THE SAME THING. HENCE DUPLICATE APPS.”
Now imagine lots of duplicate apps like this.
Do you get my point now?
I have nothing against Nothing styled apps fyi. But once you get it. Will they make the Google apps uninstallable. That’s the big ?.
I have no problem using Nothing styled apps provided for example Nothing gallery app, if they have Google photos Integration, iCloud integration (No iPhone user is ready to switch to Nothing OS if Nothing’s Gallery app doesn’t have iCloud integration to retrieve photos from iCloud)
iPhone users are trying out Nothing OS because all of their data from apple can be transferred to Google apps seamlessly.
Now imagine there was no Google Photos and Nothing Gallery had no iCloud integration. They have to do all that manually now. You get what I’m saying.
Again I’m telling, I have no problem using Nothing styled apps. It should work just as seamlessly as Google apps and equivalent uninstallable Google apps that you’re going to replace with Nothing Styled apps.
hexagonal707x That’s my point exactly. If Nothing can maintain that consistency of supporting the apps and all of the major integration, then there’s no problem. I am an ex iOS user and using Nothing P2 at the moment. For me the transition was easy coz everything was connected to Google. So I get what you mean. Hence I’m saying if they CAN, there’s no harm. But ? Is Will they?

Tush_Jagtap Nothing UI fluidity is unmatched
If Nothing UI appears to be fluid, fine. But I see no potential to call them benchmark. Probably a matter of opinion. The main thing is that they first take care of existing weak points before starting developing more native apps. Nobody needs a second “Nothing Chats”.
Ali Fakhruddin So if the company can, why not?
If… but they obviously can’t at present. It will be interesting to see if and when nothing will also increasingly focus on its own apps
Ali Fakhruddin That’s what I’m trying to say too. WILL THEY?
hexagonal707x Well in the meantime my team is on a mission to fulfil that.
hexagonal707x That’s a flawed comparison. No one’s talking about third-party apps here. Take Samsung or Apple or even OnePlus’ example. All their native apps (Phone, Gallery, Clock, Calculator, Messages etc) have a coherent design language.
Watch everyone coming back to Google Photos

𝐚𝐧𝐦𝐨𝐥 Man I have no problems with Nothing Apps. You all will be the same people who are going to complain when Nothing doesn’t update their system apps in the future. Just saying .
Google apps get updates frequently.

I think Google gallery is bit annoying to use
i dont like it anyway
I’m keenly excited to see Nothing Gallery App
rest apps are just fine no need for another apps , Google apps are just fine .

adbo Yeah…please ignore the OP…
The visual cohesiveness of the UI is one of the reasons I bought the nothing phone and no major android vendor, including Google, really focus on visually pleasing, at least to my eye, design in this area.
Weirdly, Samsung is probably the closest; OneUI’s dialer, text and calendar apps actually look good (shame about the rest of oneui).
Nothing extending the design language of nothingOS further to additional core android apps is likely what will end up keeping me brand loyal.
I have an idea that could please everyone.
Since multiple Google apps cannot be uninstalled to have Google Play certification, Nothing can develop it’s own apps, but make them uninstallable if they fulfill a similar role to a stock Google app that cannot be uninstallable.
They could ask the user during the initial setup if they want the available Nothing apps to be downloaded (hypothetical Gallery app, Dialer app, Messaging app, etc.) and then allow them to be uninstalled later if the user wishes.
I personally would use mostly Nothing apps for the feeling of visual cohesion across the entire OS.
Remi F hell some people want the design, even without having a Nothing phone.. I already have NDot as a system font on my Samsung and the Nothing colors set as a theme.. if they were to release their apps, and make them non exclusive… they’d be getting that name out there even further
