The visual cohesiveness of the UI is one of the reasons I bought the nothing phone and no major android vendor, including Google, really focus on visually pleasing, at least to my eye, design in this area.

Weirdly, Samsung is probably the closest; OneUIā€™s dialer, text and calendar apps actually look good (shame about the rest of oneui).

Nothing extending the design language of nothingOS further to additional core android apps is likely what will end up keeping me brand loyal.

    I have an idea that could please everyone.

    Since multiple Google apps cannot be uninstalled to have Google Play certification, Nothing can develop itā€™s own apps, but make them uninstallable if they fulfill a similar role to a stock Google app that cannot be uninstallable.

    They could ask the user during the initial setup if they want the available Nothing apps to be downloaded (hypothetical Gallery app, Dialer app, Messaging app, etc.) and then allow them to be uninstalled later if the user wishes.

    I personally would use mostly Nothing apps for the feeling of visual cohesion across the entire OS.

    Remi F hell some people want the design, even without having a Nothing phone.. I already have NDot as a system font on my Samsung and the Nothing colors set as a theme.. if they were to release their apps, and make them non exclusiveā€¦ theyā€™d be getting that name out there even further

      adbo Is it possible for that to happen the other way around? So if nothing apps become good enough and popular enough that the majority of user would prefer Nothings own apps that those become the default? Or is that a limitation of android?

              Agree with the opinion. But some people over here is crying loudly for nothing styles appa. Most important thing they have to do is to polish the current nothing appa and the OS itself. Still the pictures from the device is too much unreliable and the image processing is too much digital in look. The OS needs more refinement for the performance and so n so. Instead of already available Google apps they could release a community app of nothing šŸ¤·.

              adbo If I could wish the impossible then Nothing should go the Apple route. They should just create their own complete OS and apps. But thatā€™s quite impossible for now. Best way to go with it would be expanding the teams and hiring a lot of freelancers, create OS and apps, after freelancers and Nothing teams are done with the job then with the remaining team they should maintain the apps.

              But itā€™s easy to say than do idk how itā€™ll work practically

                hexagonal707x if it is so then nothing should have given stock android instead of nothing os, because their os is based on NDOT font and google apps are very fake or donā€™t match with nothing os, we are fan of nothing so I want nothing apps if you like google apps you can go with pixel device

                    adbo Thereā€™s only two apps. To be fair Iā€™m not on a nothing phone right now so itā€™s prob not showing cos I donā€™t have the right hardware to run them.

                      In principal Iā€™m not against Nothing creating branded apps, but:

                      • at this stage resources are better spent improving the OS, or ā€“
                      • partner up with a developer and re-skin their existing, feature packed apps.

                      • must be able to uninstall them

                      hexagonal707x in my personal opinion, I think they should make the most needed apps like dialer or texting apps and maybe even make an intervation with Googleā€™s stuff to move from Google or icloud to nothing. Itā€™s pretty much just a preference thing.

                      Iā€™m really looking forward to see how this company evolves, Iā€™d love to see some more redesigned stuff in the os as well. Maybe change how the power menu looks when you press and hold the power button.
