I am using a Nothing Phone (3a) Pro and the CMF Buds 2 Plus. I have updated my phone to Nothing OS 4.0 (see first screenshot) and have installed Essential Search on my device (see second screenshot).

I am trying to work out what the current integration of Essential Search with the OS is and would like to ask about future OS integrations.

I am not seeing any evidence of Essential Search appearing anywhere in the OS. This seems odd because I have seen screenshots posted in this forum of the essential search button appearing next to the app drawer search bar, but this isn’t the case on my phone (see third screenshot).

I cannot select Essential Search as the default digital assistant (see fourth screenshot).

I cannot select Essential Search as the default search engine in the app drawer search function (see fifth screenshot).

I cannot enable the AI gesture to launch Essential Search using the CMF Buds 2 Plus (see sixth screenshot).

For those who are using Essential Search, I’d like to know what is working for you right now.

Does anybody know Nothing’s plans to integrate Essential Search and/or Essential AI more generally with Nothing OS?

AndrewHumphreys sir this is not work as search engine and as a assistant.. it’s working for search. You can search whatever you want but can’t default set as search engine or a assistant…

Firstly it’s not what nothing said about bi monthly security updates

Secondly how I use my phone for work needs up to date security updates, hence why I bought as was told bi monthly updates

Biggest problem is lack of communication regarding updates for UK

I’ve noticed a dark mode bug in Nothing OS 4.

I use scheduled dark mode with Extra dark mode enabled (see screenshot 1).
When dark mode turns on automatically at the scheduled time, Extra dark mode is not applied, even though the toggle is already on.
In the morning, when dark mode turns off automatically, the notification shade remains in a grey/dim state instead of returning to the normal light theme (screenshot 2).

I can temporarily fix this UI glitch by manually turning dark mode off and on again.

Please look into this behaviour with dark mode + Extra dark mode

Can anyone test if the shutter lag has been fixed or reduced with this update? I don’t have this phone anymore, but I’m curious if they fixed it or not.

After restart, my mobile data usage (in Quick settings data tile)shows incorrect numbers.

I even set the data cycle to today’s date, but it still displays more than what I actually consumed (not even 1GB used, but shows 22GB). This used to work perfectly on OS 3.5, but now the calculation is inconsistent.

A simple daily data usage feature would fix all this. Instead of adding less-needed features like Glimpses, it would be great if essential utilities like this get priority.

As expected, major issues are still here in NOS 4.0 on Nothing Phone 3a.

HDR setting: always off, done everything but on Instagram and YT HD content such as reels and shorts will be brighter everytime.
Battery % during charging still “refresh” with all of the writing. Is so hard to make only the % changing and maybe with the time left for 100%? (or 80% for those with charging limit)?

Not a moan but just an observation. I had a phone 2a and upgraded to 3a pro a couple months ago. My 3a pro has yet to receive the 4.0 update but my 2a has received it a week ago when I turned it back on just to check.

Seems a little backwards really.

I got my 3a in half because of good looks and specs and other half for the essential button and being able to set myself very quick reminders with plain text or speech (which doesn’t really work in my language still, but nevermind). Now after the 4.0 update it just. Doesn’t do that? Like at all. It just saves what I wrote and does Nothing©®™. A month ago when I wrote “remind me tomorrow to do X” it would make me a reminder in calendar to do X. Now it just saves it in the essential space. Don’t gaslight us that it was all it did before your “eSsEnTiaL meMoRy”, it did it’s job, I wanted it to still do it. Now what, turn on this stupid new stuff, because you needed some more of my data? Hungry for that sweet sweet personal info much?

Hi , this is the first time I every post on this community. I just bought the nothing phone 3a pro and updated to the latest nothing os 4.0 and I have found these bugs 👆. Every time after I restart my phone , the quick setting widget’s animation and the snake game widget just doesn’t work. I wonder does anyone out there has the same problem. Please tell me how to fix this 🙏. Thanks 😊👍
