[UPDATE - Dec. 9, 2025]:
I downloaded Nomad (eSim provider) and did not get a warning that my device is incompatible.
Therefore, to test it out, I used their free welcome gift and purchased an eSim in my local area. Upon installation, I was shown a warning saying “Your Device is Incompatible”. I was disappointed at this, but then Nomad allowed for Manual installation, so I went ahead and did this by:
- Turning off my 2nd Nano SIM slot.
- Turning on the eSim slot.
- Headed back into the Nomad app. The warning was then gone and I proceeded to setup the eSim with the local carrier.
- I am currently writing this update using mobile data of the eSim with Nomad.
Now, here’s the weird part, I have reinstalled Saily just to check if it affected anything. Weirdly enough I don’t have the “Your Device is Incompatible” warning on their anymore too.
For my upcoming trip, I will stick to Nomad for now since I have fully tested it to be working and their plans are better.
Also, I will still continue pursuing my ticket with the support team to clarify what on Earth was going on - did I not use my phone correctly? Did I not configure the SIM settings properly? All questions to be answered (hopefully).
Finally, I will also update after my trip on reliability of Nomad as an eSim provider when used on the Nothing Phone 3A Pro.
[Original Post - Dec. 8, 2025]
I have owned a Nothing Phone 3a Pro since March.
I have brought it on a trip to Taiwan and Singapore and have successfully used the eSim feature on both trips. I bought my eSim via Klook.
Recently, I came from a trip to Japan where I bought an eSim from Klook once again. However, this time around, I got a notification saying that my device does not support eSim.
I have an upcoming trip to the USA and I installed Saily and Airalo to try other eSim providers, but both apps are saying that my device is incompatible.
What is going on? I really need help as I specifically bought this phone for it’s eSim feature/functionality for the purpose of travel.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
