PMar_P24 I too have the 3 toggles on.

Regardless of whether the toggles are on or off, the charger behaves as all fast chargers do, viz, charging at full speed till 80%, then slow down till 100%is reached.

But it does NOT take 8 hrs to get from 80 to 100 as you state.

Gun_Put it does tho, for me when it goes to night time it pops up a notfication that even states at what time in the early morning it´s going to be fully charged.

PMar_P24 any thing will happen battery due to overcharging? Some time I plugg my phone 2 in to 3 or 2 hourse!! It will affect battery health?

Or after 100% charging! charger will automatically disconnect?

VishnuManjeri No damage will happen if you do not disconnect after the charge reaches 100%.

The charger will just do a trickle charge thereafter.

But it’s good practice to disconnect after charging.

Battery save function does nothing besides activate dark theme, reduce background activity and delay notification.

Meaning – Nothing.

Absolutely Nothing to keep battery last longer.

Nothing is the name of the phone so OK with that.

What would make the battery last longer is something completely different.

That would be a limiter to stop battery from overcharging just like electric cars have.

Normal charge would be stopping charging somewhere between 80 and 85% and that would keep the Li-Ion battery healthy many more years than if constantly charging to 100%.

That could be called “Smart Charging”.

Samsung (and probably more companies) know that, and it is something that can be activated. Not something done automatic, so those that want a 100% charge can have that.

lexlexus Yes, limiting maximum charge to 80% would indeed prolong battery health & life.

Samsung & Apple do have that feature.

In NOS I haven’t been able to figure out what the “Battery Health” toggle is supposed to do & have reported my frustration.

Even for a “small” & “only 3 year old”, this feature shouldn’t be difficult to implement & would be a useful one.

Of course I know that phones and tablets and earphones are not the items that use the biggest batteries, but maybe very many little ones become something to think about anyway, so keeping them as long as possible is good for the environment.

Lithium is used many places and in the above mentioned items, at this time maybe, the best and least damaging. Batteries for cars are another thing. In order to get long range batteries must be heavy and thus will be hard on tyres (many not healthy micro-particles in tyres) and unfortunately they will not last long and worse the materials to batteries we are digging out of the ground are at this time not reused as they are bonded by strong glue and it is not cost efficient to reuse the minerals. That the electricity with which the batteries in most part of the world are made from more than 50% of noway near green electricity make the efficiency of “green” battery powered cars sound very hollow. If the batteries are then fabricated on places where power to the factory come from coal make the idea of driving without pollution so impossible that anybody, that care for the planet for our children and bother to find out what is to find out (it is all on google) from reliable people that are not of the conspiracy group, can find out that though the electric cars do not have an exhaust pipe, they pollute more in their lifetime than the pretty soon forbidden petrol powered cars.

One more reason for Nothing to add a possibility to save the batteries so they last longer instead of just turning on dark mode.

It should have an option where to set the hour you need the phone to be at 100%, or to automatically get that from first wake up alarm….

Just charge it and automatically it will go to 100%.

The more intelligent battery management in electric cars try to keep the battery between 20% and 80% as long as possible to keep the battery in best possible condition as long as possible. Reason: makers of cars do not want to have too many customers complaining about batteries getting far shorter range than promised. Charge the phone constantly to 100% and then let it go down to 0% often is the fastest way to need a new battery (or phone).

N should add a toggle (or reprogram the existing Battery health one) to stop charging once the %age charge reaches 80%,which is the best for battery longevity.

It shouldn’t be difficult to do & would be useful not only for owners but for the environment.

N prides itself on being environment friendly by max using recycled materials & this would be another step in that direction.

lexlexus cars are getting more smarter than that 😅 if u need the car at 8, 10 or 12 on a day, it will be charged 100% only at 6.00 (over night price is lower than over the day) . And after 6 it will pump back some current in the grid (at a bigger price than it was charged). And when u’ll need the car it’ll have 80% (charged at the cost of maybe 60%) - assuming u don’t need a full battery over the day.

Gun_Put Has this feature been impemented yet? I’ve sold my Nothing Phone (2) back in January and was on the latest official OS 2.5 version and the already mentioned Smart Charging feature never was my cup of tea, as I prefered to quick charge the device during daytime. I often would unplug it at 80-95% charge, but it always meant to have an eye on the charging status.

Samsung for example just recently adjusted their battery saving feature from 85% to 80% with their latest One UI version, the device simply stops charging at 80% no matter what. I always wished for such sort of feature on my Nothing Phone.

Do not be fooled by bullshit from salespeople. Li-Ion batteries that are in 95% of all the EV cars are not different from what they were 10 years ago. The electronic management of them is now better, but next generation of better batteries are still so beautifully expensive that they are only tested in labs.

Batteries with reasonable range in cars are heavy and when it is cold they are not lasting long.

We are destroying the planet with these and our children are going to try to fix the mess we are leaving to them.

Is that function similar to stopping the charging to 80% that Samsung phones have?

The description is not clear/specific enough for me, due it still charges to 100%

Wanna keep this phone with me for a long while.
