After a few days listening music with the new fw, I’m really, really liking it. Bass Enhancement Level 2-3 with personal audio that corrects the slight differences between my ears is awesome. There used to be an annoying peak around 5-6kHz, I don’t notice that at all now, so I’m not even using the Andvanced EQ which was the original reason why I got these headphones.

When the bass issue was introduced last year, I bought the Sennheiser HD 550 for home use with a Qudelix 5k. I distinctly remember how much better they sounded than the HP(1). Now they’re just simply diffent because of the open/closed setup, but I can’t choose a clear winner.

I’m just left sad that Nothing would ignore such a major problem for half a year or so. I still expect them to give us an explanation what happened. Why I couldn’t use my headphones for so long. But I know they will just release the next shiny new product soon and sweep this whole mess under the rug for good.

Didn’t notice much of a change in SQ post-update until I ran a factory reset. Now my headphone has the same level of bass with the enhancement setting turned off as it did when the BE was set to Level 3. I also think it’s reaching deeper than it was on FW .80.

Haven’t set up any EQs or re-taken the personal hearing test yet, but I don’t feel like I need to do either. The rest of the frequency range is just right for me so far 🙂

Loving the new sound after latest update. Not even using the sound guys profile anymore (but would love to see them do a new one) just selected balanced and has more volume,more bass. Awesome. I know people have complained quite rightly as to why they weren’t like this from the start but at least nothing are tweaking things and giving lots of customisation options that other headphone makers don’t

Nothing Headphone (1) Firmware v1.0.1.81 Review

I recently updated my Nothing Headphone (1) to firmware v1.0.1.81, and the improvement in sound quality is immediately noticeable compared to the previous version.

The new tuning feels much closer to my Personal Sound preferences, especially in terms of bass response and overall balance. Bass now sounds deeper, tighter, and more punchy without muddying the mids, making the overall presentation feel more controlled and refined.

I currently use Personal Sound enabled, and it delivers a full, loud, and punchy sound across almost all genres. Pop, EDM, and movie content in particular sound more immersive, with vocals coming forward nicely and dialogue clarity improving significantly.

The smoother high frequencies also make listening more comfortable for longer sessions, especially since I’m sensitive to treble. With Personal Sound turned on, the headphones provide a rich and engaging listening experience without sounding harsh or fatiguing.

Overall, firmware v1.0.1.81 has made the stock tuning more balanced and enjoyable, and with Personal Sound enabled, the headphones now sound fuller and more impactful across most types of content.

Well, overall it’s a good update. The bass is stronger, although in my personal experience, even with bass enhancement at level 3 enabled in version 1.0.1.80, there are still differences. I mean, in this new version 1.0.1.81, there was an improvement in the bass, but it feels much stronger with bass enhancement enabled. On the other hand, since versions 1.0.1.74 and 1.0.1.80, when I have ANC enabled and I’m traveling on a bus and there are bumps in the road, I hear a “bump,” which I think is the ANC trying to block that frequency. I don’t know if anyone else was experiencing this with the previous version and this one, but I saw in another post that someone else had the same problem with the previous version. So, if it’s a problem, it hasn’t been fixed.

In short, I’m still happy with the update, as it restores the better sound I came to expect from these headphones.

Hi, Just updated to .81 First couple of days it was sensational.

Now after a few days the Sound ist flat anc doesnt Work Bass boost didnt Work..

Anyone with the Same Problem or solution ?

Jacopo_DWU3rYoQMw Same issue here. Noise cancellation and Transparency modes both have decent bass. “Off” mode it goes flat - no bass at all and pretty terrible sound in general.

Overall great improvement in ANC / Transparency modes though, so I guess it’s a net positive overall. Seems just to be some quality / testing misses resulting in it not working across the board.

I also tried with 3.5mm jack. The sound was definitely not as good as when connected to the phone using ANC, but was still better than when ANC was in the “Off” mode.

Would like to see consistency across all modes in terms of sound profile.

After the latest firmware update I’ve been getting a faint vibration/hum in the left ear of my headphone (1). Almost like a blood pressure rush feeling in your ear but I know it’s the headphone. Wondering if anyone else has been getting this or if my £300 headphones have already broken after 4 months.

Finally received the update as well. Bass enhancement works perfect. My choice is 2nd or 3rd level. Works good even with an ANC.

Probably headphones became a bit louder, but not sure.

After the recent update low notes were noticably flat when the ANC is off. Is this a bug or is this how it is supposed to? I’m not even sure anymore..

Basically Bass Enhancements not working if ANC is turned OFF.
