Look, rather than fighting and debating among ourselves is pointless. Both point of views are right at their place. And i believe that we should try to understand each one’s perspective. While i love the phone, its true that i also wish that there should be features that makes us love the phone even more. And 5 years seems like a good period for updates. And the fact that people are demanding this shows the expectations we have for this brand. So don’t go around saying carl pei or nothing is a new brand and is growing with struggle. Nothing was built with the passion to beat iphone. So keep your game face on

Nothing is a new company. We should give them time to establish and I am myself owner of Nothing Phone 2 and I love the device. They are working hard and trying their best. And also Carl has completely new team. And also they provide us quick updates too. @Carl your work and products are great. Keep going

You’re right. Nothing OS really lacks on features which are available on all other brands, like spatial audio. I’ve put so many mails for suggestions and I don’t think they’re even being considered.
About the cameras, not worth ₹50000 I paid. HDR processing is unreliable and low light performance is inconsistent too.
There’s no way this phone can compete with 12R which is of the same price. 12R offers:

I would trade in the Glyphs (which I do use frequently) in a heartbeat for something more useful like smart cutout, and definitely for spatial audio.
I like the Glyph Interface and the quick settings widgets of this OS, but this excitement weared off long back.
Also their customer service is bad. I raise an issue and the agent on the other side doesn’t seem to understand what issue I’ve raised and is telling me to perform actions which either I’ve already done or have no relation to this
One major problem I raised is about mobile network unnecessarily consuming the most battery, more than the screen and more than any app. The response I get is to check what’s draining my battery when that is exactly how I found out that mobile network is draining battery.
Genuinely considering selling this phone now and save a bit more for 12R if it’s camera software is better.
Phone already lacked haptic integration and now you don’t feel the haptic feedback while opening the recents screen. Bugs don’t get fixed! Even the issue of the lower part of the screen being unresponsive hasn’t been fixed.
Can’t recommend this brand to anyone tbh. Really had an expectation considering Carl Pei did well in OnePlus and with Phone (1). He should have just stayed in OnePlus in my opinion. That way OnePlus wouldn’t have had Color OS and we would still have an all rounder brand. (Though this is not a part of this conversation, just wanted to state my opinion.)
PardhanSingh I somehow agree with you regarding camera and also would like Nothing to develop their own gallery and call functionality and many more if you are really looking and want to compare yourself with apple family.
Having at least 4 or 5 years of os update for nothing 3 is a must if you want to market it as your flagship phone. Other companies are catching up.

Louis But to be Frank , The cameras need a great workaround. Front, Main and UW. HDR processing is worse. Sharpness and details are more to be desired. Even after updating to 2.5.2, it still bad for a phone that has such a great camera hardware and ISP. No hate on the team behind it but out of all aspects of phone 2, Camera performance is a lot to be desired. It doesn’t even have a HDR on/off toggle. A phone with a price of Rs. 10,000/- has it.

I want an answer from Nothing. Why they are not able to resolve the HDR issue? I believe the screen is not enough bright.
PardhanSingh I agree with camera performance since super zoomed in photos just get over processed but the glyphs aren’t trash their honestly useful and super fun, I greatly enjoy have that touch of fun and nothing has the best UI. U miss the point with alot of things abt nothing. If ur a boomer go buy an iphone for same crap every year and then it’ll explode in 5 yrs. Features for students? What does that even mean lmao, the user experience nothing delivered is the best compared to most Androids and iphone. Really is perfection that aesthetic monotonous shade it gives to everything, I bet u use normal colours on ur nothing. U miss the mark with ur points, this phone isn’t like those safe play boring companies and it’s for techies not clowns

Louis sir, stop being in the side of nothing. Think from our perspective. When initially nothing phone 1 was released no one was interested in it. Phone 1 got it’s hype by end of year. People stated that phone has become extraordinary because of software updates. Nothing gave 2 updates a month which included both improvemental and security updates. After announcing nothing phone 2 the frequency of rolling updates have been slowed down. As phone 2 released the updates were coming too late. They said that we are working on new NOTHING OS. The nothing os released for phone 2. But they said they will be releasing it for phone 1 by end of the year. From the release of nothing phone 2, phone 1 stopped getting updates, updates were given ones in a blue moon.
People expected regular software updates like which were rolled out in January, February and March of 2023 throughout the span which other phone manufacturers were not able to provide. Contrary to the expectations, Nothing stopped rolling updates for phone 1 , which is unacceptable.
It’s been 3 months since last stable update rolled out for nothing phone 1. November 23rd is the recorded date for release of os 2.0.5.
Why so? Why nothing too behaving alike other smartphone manufacturers. Upon releasing successor why keeping older phone 1 aside? We people didn’t buy phone 1 expecting this…

Which many people agreed to join and share feedbacks. When they agreed and joined into closed beta and open beta is rolled out. Nothing should also show a way to downgrade to open beta right?
Why nothing didn’t provide? Why just ignored the people who were in closed beta. Nothing was saying need to flash whole os via adb.for which no guide was provided. It was a big heck flashing os. When upgrading to closed beta was too easy why downgrading is not? When updates and os were shown as selling point then that should be strong.
Join the telegram channel of nothing phone global. You will be able to experience wide variety of problems with phones and complaints. Using these platforms where people can’t join or familiar with and conducting these type of discussions are not gonna work.
I didn’t mean to degrade or humiliate the company. I am just trying to explain our perspective. Phone 1 still have many bugs which I reported. Work on them rather than releasing new phones. We consumers didn’t expect this and buy phone. In India, smartphone is an investment for parents for their children. Regretting or losing the value of investment hurts a lot. Hope you and nothing understands this, Works and helps consumers.

PardhanSingh nahh no one will use this processor for more than 3 years, I think at most 3 years os update is needed instead of 2, and they should continue allowing unlocking the bootloader like they currently do, the custom rom support especially phone 1 has is just excellent
So you expect a new brand to provide updates like other tech giants (Samsung/iPhone). They’re not even as big as OnePlus and OnePlus still provides 4yrs of OS updates. 3 years of OS from a new brand like Nothing is commendable and they will eventually increase their support with future devices as they get bigger

Who even uses their device for 5years? The people who uses a device for more than 4years won’t even think of getting new os updates. OnePlus 12R have Snapdragon 8Gen2 bro, how in the world are you trying to compare it’s functionalities with Snapdragon 8+Gen 1 that Nothing Phone 2 have? Mark my words all these Ai things will be paid after 1 or 2 years. Don’t know actually but from my research i find out that the Ai functions are based on Hardware capabilities. So Snapdragon 8Gen3 have more Ai capabilities than Sd 8+gen1 .

I don’t find any issues with the overall ui of Nothing Phone, Just change the ucon pack to “DEFAULT” from “NOTHING” and increase the icon size and font size in settings and give it to the old age people, they will easily you the device

Yes brother, you are right in the current era of technology. If you don’t give updates for five years, nothing people will recognize the phone. So nothing is my request to the company to update the phone for five years and make it work better after software and camera.
