We’ve done dream phones for tech creators like MKBHD and JerryRigEverything, but this time we challenged ourselves, an ambitious target to appease the YouTube comment section. This one’s for you! Community’s Dream Phone was a tad trickier as it wasn’t one person’s perfect vision but instead it was about hitting the mark for 1.2m subscribers. We combed through thousands of tweets, messages, comments, posts, emails and even letters in the post to find out what a true community edition phone would look like. We ended up creating a completely new frame to cram in as much as we could. When people want small phones with big features, something's got to give. And of course we made sure a particularly bright fan-favourite feature returned. Zac 🛸 really got a curious question, 5 years back smartphones used to have the same features with all these components, in an even smaller package. So why is it so tough now. I mean the tech is mostly getting compact like the siC batteries and all. I get that some of the features are t really necessary so is there more to it or just removing features majority people don’t use

Arpan I think the screen also uses more battery, and all the other services - even simple scrolling, now it can be 120 Hz, so it requires a larger battery.

I guess so tooI assume that also to improve charging speed while preserving battery life, increasing write speed on the drive and the processor itself consumes more space.

make it perfect, it wouldn’t even have to have a usb c connector to have wireless charging, there’s no need for a sim card slot, let it have an e sim

Zac 🛸 Really cool video! For me personally, the perfect screen size is 6.5 inches. It’s the best balance between a large display and still being able to use it with one hand if necessary, even with average-sized hands. The fact that the SD card slot and headphone jack have only really caught on with Sony actually shows just how niche these requirements are, and that in particular means the community places particular value on technical details. I think that’s really cool. If, apart from my preferred screen size, the dream phone also featured symmetrical speakers with good bass and an LTPO panel, I’d say straight away: Take my money!!

Jeffrey_JPEG seconded but not for photo editing (mostly). I just prefer at least a medium size phone, say 6.3″, for the added screen space and the extra battery that can come along with the extra space. It’s my old eyes… 💔

Right now I’m using Xperia 10 IV for more than 3 years and kinda looking what can replace it.

Took a look at Ikko Mind one- lots of compromises but kinda fun extra small square-ish shape. it is still not available in my country so whatever.

But this concept looks awesome! I’d get it on the 1st day!

Just please do some proper testing of the firmware. Headphone (1) firmware situation was frustrating for 3 months. Luckily you figured it out and I’m enjoying my headphones again.

Zac 🛸 I would also love to see IR blaster because we have around 5 to 6 remote in our home to control our devices but that is a headache if nothing phones would come with IR blaster it would add a convenience which every user wants

My iPhone 14 just went kaput. This would be much more preferred over a brand new (or even older model) iPhone for $1,500+. I hope ya’ll release this soon. 😅
