JohnnyBravado There is a very good reason not to upgrade for a while.

You need to be on Android 8.0 or lower for that, as the main mechanism for that sideloading lock is Google Play Services. Android version has nothing to do with that as long as Google Play Services is still supporting it.

Edit: Sorry, Android 7.0

So if you’re on Android 6.0.1 or lower you have nothing to worry about and it won’t affect you.

grepGander Having to have a computer around to install apps on my phone is the most annoying way to install anything. Right now I can download the APK and install it in 5 seconds. There is a very good reason not to upgrade for a while.

robert_rodriguez_gonza 3 OS upgrades, it was released in 2025, received one (NOS 4.0). So yes, NOS 5.0 in 2026, and 6.0 in 2027.

Edit: Those East Slavs at Google won’t even send you security codes over your “normal messenger” (SMS), they require RCS for security and encryption.

musya RCS is pretty much the same thing as WA, Signal, Telegram. Except that includes SMS and MMS also, it replaces them. I provided you links. But now Nothing is supposed to create a replacement for WhatsApp or Telegram, is that what you want to say? And have a grand total of two users globally, lol. Good luck with that. Cheers.
