After updating my Nothing Phone (3) to Beta 5.0, I’m facing serious stability and usability issues.
Almost all of my apps are crashing repeatedly. Chrome often doesn’t open, and when it does, pages sometimes don’t load. I’m experiencing similar issues with other apps as well.
Another major issue is with phone calls. Sometimes the phone rings, but the incoming call screen doesn’t appear, so I can’t answer the call. The only way to fix it is to restart the phone. However, after around 4–5 minutes, the same issue starts happening again.
Because of these problems, the phone has become unreliable for basic daily use. I eventually had to factory reset my phone and roll back to version 4.1.
Feature & Improvement Suggestions
I also feel Nothing could improve the overall experience by introducing or improving the following:
Nothing Dialer: A dedicated Nothing-designed dialer would provide a more consistent experience with the Nothing OS design.
Nothing File Manager: A clean, lightweight, and well-integrated file manager would be a useful addition.
Better Camera Stability: Improve camera stability, app performance, processing, and consistency, especially during longer sessions.
Better Gaming Mode: Improve the gaming mode with better performance controls, thermal management, notifications control, and overall stability during gaming.
Overall System Stability: Before adding more features, I think stability and reliability should be the top priority.
Beta software can obviously have bugs, but Beta 5.0 currently affects basic functions like apps, Chrome, and incoming calls. I hope Nothing focuses on fixing these core issues before the next beta release.
And Most Importantly — Nothing’s Identity
I feel Nothing is slowly forgetting what made the brand unique in the first place.
The dot-matrix / pixel-style typography and visual language were a huge part of Nothing’s identity. It gave Nothing OS a distinctive personality that you could immediately recognize.
I would really like to see Nothing bring more of that original dot-matrix aesthetic back into Nothing OS—not just in wallpapers or small design elements, but as part of the overall UI experience.
Nothing shouldn’t try to look like every other Android phone. The quirky, minimal, transparent, dot-matrix-inspired design is what made Nothing different.
