I kindly hope the Nothing team and officials can consider Nothing Phone (2) for Nothing OS 5.0 as a final exception, based on the strong request from the community—of course, only if the hardware is genuinely capable of delivering a smooth experience.

This is exactly the kind of situation where community feedback should matter. We’re not demanding it, just asking Nothing to listen to the users who have supported the brand and consider this one special exception.

After all, if the community cannot come together to request something and have it considered, then what is the community for? 🙂

Nothiq The Nothing Phone (2) is more powerful than most NOS5-compatible phones. I know Nothing is very limited by its software engineers, but we could be the last to get the update and it would be fine.

All I ask is the support last for the series, series one finished fine, series two the flagship dies but the budget lives on ? Hu wait what? evey other manufacturer the pro or the elite basically the flagship lasts a year longer than the base model or the budget model, why is it that nothing series 2 the budget lives on and the premium dies. Mr Steel 🦾 Nothing phone 2 has come with the 8+ gen 1 it will easily carry the 5.0 update. As compared with the remaining nothing phones and CMF phones, phone 2 have the best processor. But the update policy is ended, but nothing need to consider to give the update to the phone 2 users. Phone 2 users are played the better role in the evaluation of nothing OS because we are using the phone with less features and more bugs as compared to other nothing phones.

Please nothing need to reconsider the nothing phone 2.

Mr Steel 🦾 Nothing has fulfilled its promised support policy, but this still creates a bad impression for the brand. People expect a premium flagship to receive at least the same level of major software support as a cheaper phone from the same generation—not less. It’s hard to imagine Samsung or Apple supporting their base model for longer than their Pro/Ultra model. Phone (2) owners aren’t asking because the promise was broken; they’re asking because this outcome makes buying the more expensive flagship feel like the worse long-term choice.

It also raises a bigger question for future buyers: if a Nothing Phone (4) or Phone (5) launches next year, why should someone buy the more expensive flagship immediately? They might simply wait for the cheaper 5a, pay less, and potentially get one more Android version because of the launch timing. That makes the cheaper A-series phone look like the better long-term investment.

When support ends for my NP3 I won’t message Nothing asking them to extend support I will buy another new Nothing phone as soon as it is released. That way I will get to enjoy the full support duration.

PHONE 2 DESERVES NOTHING OS 5.0

Hi everyone, and hi to the Nothing team reading this,

I’ve been a Nothing Phone (2) owner since 2023, and I’m writing this not just for myself, but for what I think is a large group of us who feel the same way.

I recently confirmed with support that the Phone (2) will not receive Android 17 / Nothing OS 5.0 — major software support has officially ended, with only security patches until next year. I fully understand this matches the originally promised update policy. But I’d like to respectfully ask the community and the product team to reconsider one additional major update, as a one-time exception.

Here’s my reasoning, and I’d love to know if others feel the same:

1. The hardware is still more than capable. The Phone (2) runs a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 — a genuine flagship chip that can comfortably handle a newer Android version. Retiring it now is a decision based on the support timeline, not on what the device can actually do.

2. Many of us spent our early ownership fixing issues rather than enjoying the phone. Personally, I’ve opened several separate support tickets over the years for genuinely different problems — a Bluetooth call-audio issue that broke my medical hearing aids for over two months, a call-audio bug after using audio apps that’s still open with R&D, and an abnormal “Temporary system files” storage bug that grows to ~30 GB and can’t be cleared without a factory reset (I know many of you have hit this one too). Ending major support now feels like the device is being retired before some of us ever got to fully enjoy it.

3. One extra version would build enormous goodwill. Nothing built its reputation on treating early adopters as a community, not just customers. Extending the Phone (2) by a single major update would send a powerful message: that Nothing stands by the people who believed in the brand when it was still proving itself.

I’m not asking for years of extended support — just one more major version, Android 17 / Nothing OS 5.0, for a device that can clearly run it.

NP2 really deserves this update and all the other users above have already written all the reasons. Before the list of eligible devices was announced I was sure that NP2 would receive this update and I was really surprised when I saw NP2 not on this list. Nothing has proven many times that it listens to its community… I hope that happens in this case too

Nothiq Yes we NP2 users deserve Nothing OS 5.0. Please @Carl make it happen. Our phone still running smooth AF and it can easily handle 5.0. Also giving just 3 major updates to your flagship device is a crime imo.

Imagine thinking that demanding value for money is “bragging.” We bought a smartphone, not a piece of museum art. Originality and aesthetics don’t run apps or fix lag; a solid processor and long-term OS support do. Consumers like you are the reason tech companies get lazy—you’ll blindly defend mediocre hardware just because the back panel glows in the dark. We paid our hard-earned money, so we have every right to demand updates. Stop acting like an unpaid PR manager for a multi-million dollar company and start acting like a consumer who knows their worth.

Their final answer was that the decision has been “thoroughly reviewed and finalized,” that Phone (2) has reached the end of its major software support, and that it cannot be changed by further requests. So officially, the door seems closed — which is exactly why community pressure like yours matters more than individual tickets now.

And honestly? I’m beyond frustrated. I own a Galaxy phone that’s older than my Phone (2), and it’s still receiving updates after all these years — with no real problems the whole time. Same with iPhone: years of smooth support. Meanwhile my Phone (2) has been nothing but issues for 3 years — I barely got to enjoy it, because most of my time was spent contacting support to fix one bug after another.

We paid a flagship price and got a fraction of the experience. One more major update — Nothing OS 5.0 — is the least that would make this right. The hardware can handle it. The community wants it. @Nothing modedit: removed tag please listen. ❤️‍🔥
