CMF Speaker S and Speaker M were designed with clean lines and unique shape. But the best bit isn’t how they look (though we’re pretty proud of that too). It’s that you can take them apart. On both sizes, the volume knob and panels pop off and can be swapped out. You can trade with a friend or mix and match colours. Plus, if there’s a 3D printer sitting in the corner of your room, you can make your own. We’re sharing the full 3D files for both speakers, so go wild. 💡 A few tips before you hit print: Pick your material: PLA is easy to print and great for a first go. If you want something a bit tougher for parts you’ll handle a lot, like the knob, PETG is worth a try. Go finer on the small stuff: Smaller parts like knobs look much better with a finer layer height, especially if you’re adding lettering or texture. Test the fit first: Every printer is a little different, so print one part and check the fit before you commit to a full set. A small tweak to your settings usually sorts out anything too tight or too loose. Think about orientation: How you place a part on the bed changes how it turns out. Printing panels flat usually gives you the cleanest front face. We recommend printing horizontally for the best rigidity. Make it yours: Add your initials, a logo, a texture, whatever you like. Probably not easy to do while having an interesting design. The other speaker I experimented with that has published STL files, the Teufel Mynd, isn’t really nice to print, either. Maybe CMF could have made the hooks be part of the main case and make the angled part a separate STL, which would make it much easier to print … but that would definitely make the speaker worse for 99.9% of the buyers which never print custom designs. At least with the current design, all the printing support will be on the back (with the design I tested), so the affected surfaces will be easy to hide. But yeah, a lot of support needed, creating a lot of waste …

Added an experimental feature to split the panel into two with an added groove to hold it in place. That should make it easier to print, with just a little bit worse looks. Definitely needs to be tested in a real print and probably optimized after.

Title / Pitch: CMF Speaker - Xbox Series S Edition Concept (Custom Hybrid D-Pad Knob)

Hi everyone!

Inspired by the awesome 3D printing community and the official CMF Speaker files, I made a quick render concept: CMF Speaker - Xbox Series S Edition! 🎮🔊

The main idea is replacing the original volume knob with an Xbox Hybrid D-Pad style knob (featuring the central square platform surrounded by four parallel directional cheese slopes).

Top Geometry: Xbox Series X/S hybrid D-pad style.
Base: Built on the official CMF volume knob mount to ensure a perfect fit with the rotary dial.

I’m still working on refining the 3D model, but if anyone here with advanced CAD / 3D modeling skills is interested in bringing this Xbox D-Pad knob to life or collaborating, I’d love to share the ideas/files!

HAL9000NT how do we get the grill on the model? The grill is attached to the stock faceplate, if we print we loose the grill

Actually, my plan is NOT to 3D print the whole faceplate. I’m keeping the stock faceplate and grill as they are.

I only plan to 3D print the custom Xbox D-pad knob and the power button, then attach/mount them directly onto the original CMF speaker faceplate. That way we get the cool Xbox aesthetic while keeping the original build quality and grill intact! 🙌

HAL9000NT looking at the faceplate idk how to unhook the power button. It seems to be connected on a specific way, compared to the knob being an easy replacement
