Nothing OS 5.0 General Release is now rolling out to Phone (3). This is the full Nothing OS 5.0 experience, including the redesigned Launcher, Micrographics clock face, refreshed design system, deeper personalisation, smoother performance, improved Essential AI tools and the best of Android 17. After updating my Nothing Phone (3) to Nothing OS 5.0, I’m experiencing several camera issues.

- Portrait mode freezes: It opens at 3× zoom by default, and switching between 1× and 3× causes the preview to freeze or fail to load, sometimes crashing the Camera app.

- Unusual camera sounds: I hear different or unusual mechanical/motor-like sounds when switching between camera modes and sometimes while using the camera.

- Other modes work fine: The freezing issue appears to occur only in Portrait mode; regular Photo mode works normally.

I’ve already tried clearing the Camera app’s cache and storage, restarting the phone, and checking for software updates, but the issue persists.

Has anyone else experienced these problems after the Nothing OS 5.0 update? Could the Nothing team confirm whether this is a known software issue and whether a fix is planned in an upcoming update?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Nothing OS 5.0 is decent, but it has quite a few shortcomings; for instance, the ‘glass effect’ is missing from the notification panel and app icons—these issues need to be addressed.

ishaashrafi92 there are lot more bugs in recent stable update nothing has to fix that bugs. Especially notifications getting in notification panel that showing of notifications like there are not showing proper tabs

..is not an issue. Nothing unusual or something to worry about.

grepGander OIS actuation and autofocus motor initialisation are clicking (when you hear click that’s autofocus actuator resetting the glass elements to a default starting point). It’s normal and expected behaviour, and it would be something to worry about if it’s wasn’t clicking 😁

On the left is the “Clock” widget, and on the right is the “Clock” app icon. The current time is displayed in the top-left corner. As we can see, something went wrong with the clock hands on the app icon after updating to Nothing OS 5.0.

Why is the percent sign so far away from the numbers and the battery icon?

I live in France and am still waiting.

This is usual here as when I had a 3a updates tended to arrive 2-3 days later.

The most annoying thing for me with this NOS 5.0 is the wifi that is always on even when you turn it off, which didn’t happen before with the NOS 4.1 and the notification that says '‘activate mobile data?’' please put it back as it was before.

Daniel Hello, sir. I am from India, and I am using the Nothing Phone (2a).

Recently, I saw that Nothing OS 5 has been released, and I am really excited about it. However, one thing makes me a little disappointed. Your team has introduced a translucent theme, but the Control Centre is still missing the translucent effect.

If your team could implement the translucent effect throughout the entire Control Centre, it would make the user interface look much more beautiful, modern, and fluid.

So, I sincerely request your team to consider adding this feature in one of the upcoming updates. Please, please consider this request! 🙏

Since this may be the last major software update for my Phone (2a), I really hope to see this feature implemented before software support ends.

The dynamic themes changed with this update, and are all too dull or vibrant. I can’t fix with ColorBlendr.
