If it’s like the Phone (2), then if you buy an Indian unit then it will need to be activated with an Indian SIM and on an Indian Network when first setup. If you reset your phone, it would again need to be set up using an Indian SIM on an Indian network. I don’t know if this will apply to Phone (2a) yet, but that’s how it works for Phone (2).
