A few weeks back, @Rob ⚡️ and @Natalie ✨ contacted me about creating a video for the launch event of the Nothing Phone (2a). They wanted me to come up with something to represent the nothing community and said it would be a paid gig. Even offered to fly me 2500km from my home just to shoot this video. I remember reading the message over and over just to make sure I wasn’t reading it wrong. It was the dream job with the dream team.

The initial plan was to shoot on a proper DSLR with a gimbal and all other fancy gear. However, I proposed the idea of shooting the entire launch event with the Phone (2a) itself. After all, what better device for the job? There were some concerns about the quality of the video since the event was happening at night with very low and unusual lighting. Even high-end flagship phones would struggle in those conditions. Well, I was eager to give it a try.

So I decided to do a test by shooting a video of a music festival happening nearby with similar lighting conditions, and guess what? It really surprised everyone, including myself. The video looked really good, and we realized the device is more than capable for the conditions. To make it even more challenging, I decided to shoot this handheld with no rig or lens attachment. At this point, I was excited to push the limits of what we could do with this device.

I arrived at the venue one day before to familiarise myself with the place and settings. @Rob ⚡️, @Natalie ✨, and @RohitPakalapati made sure I had everything I needed. On the day of the shoot, my plan was to capture as much footage as possible and do it well. To be honest, I was a bit nervous about navigating among 1000 people and capturing everything without missing anything. But that’s what I signed up for, right? During the shoot, I made sure to speak with all the people from the community whom I had been talking to online for a very long time. And I have to say, the Nothing team did an incredible job setting up the place and the experience. I enjoyed every bit of it, even though I was a little nervous. I’m still processing that day. 😁

I threw in a fun little intro to the whole video to make it more interesting and reminiscent of the ‘Welcome to the Bright Side’ video (the video that led to this project). And that’s it! This is the (2a) Event shot on the (2a). Even though I couldn’t film everything I had planned, think I put together something decent. I hope you all enjoy watching it.

Before wrapping up, I want to express my gratitude to the Nothing team for giving me this opportunity and trusting me with such an important project. It means a lot to me. I doubt if any other smartphone company would undertake a project like this with someone like me. Also a big thank you to everyone in the community; the passion and enthusiasm of the people here are insane. ✌️

I’m overjoyed that we got to meet and work alongside you Rahul! It was a pleasure - we felt so confident in your ability to create content from all the amazing work you’ve shared previously and the result you’ve shared above speaks for itself!

I hope this is the first of many collaborations with our members and I look forward to building this brand together!

    Thanks again! <3

This is an amazing video, really captures the essence and community feel of the launch event. Well done as always Rahul! Love that you managed to show off the community projects on display too. Hope you managed to enjoy the event yourself in between shooting all of this 😄

Happy to see my guest experience in the video as well 😎

Rahul Fantastic work, @Rahul I enjoyed watching the video. I really liked the concept of teleporting yourself to the event place by using the Glyph portal. It added a unique and engaging touch. Your creativity is truly outstanding. Well done! ✌️

Incredible work as always! I always love seeing your creativity 🔥 really love the intro.

The event looks incredible. I love the tunnel walk through, I think it’s amazing and I love the booth with all the community work being shown.

This is unbelievable man. I’m so happy that you got to be part of this day and helped bring it to life. Love the intro, a great homage to the begining of your Nothing film career. As others have said, really hope to see more of you doing this sort of stuff at future community events. You’ve definitely earned it and the community really value your contributions 🫶🏻📸
