Dear Nothing Phone 2 Community,

I would like to raise a feature request regarding the functionality of the lock screen on the Nothing Phone 2. Currently, I have noticed a significant security concern that I believe deserves our attention.

The issue at hand pertains to the accessibility of the quick settings menu on the lock screen. Even without unlocking the device, it is possible to enable or disable functions such as NFC, Wi-Fi, mobile data (internet), and Bluetooth. While the quick access to these settings may be convenient, it poses a potential security risk.

Specifically, this configuration could jeopardize the device’s security in scenarios where it is lost or stolen. For example, if someone gains unauthorized access to the phone and disables internet connectivity, it becomes nearly impossible to track or locate the device. While it is possible to remotely lock the entire device, this may not be a desirable option, as it could inadvertently signal to the intruder that the device is being tracked.

Therefore, I kindly request that the development team consider implementing an optional feature that allows users to restrict quick setting access on the lock screen, ensuring enhanced security and peace of mind for Nothing Phone 2 owners.

I believe that such a feature would significantly improve the overall security of the device without compromising usability. As a community of tech enthusiasts and early adopters, our collective input can drive meaningful enhancements to the Nothing Phone 2.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to hearing the thoughts and feedback from the community and the development team.

To ensure your feedback gets to the correct teams at Nothing, you must share your thoughts and findings in the correct places:

For now, use the Google Form found here. (Feedback via Settings App coming soon)

Issues and ideas shared via a discussion on nothing.community are unlikely to be seen by the relevant teams in good time. Discussions can still be used to validate/confirm bugs are repeatable and to discuss ideas, but feedback should still be submitted as requested above.

    1. Double Tap to wake up
    2. Quick settings for Vibration Mode
    3. Quick settings for Glyph Light
    4. Major improvement in Haptics is needed
    5. Quick settings for lock the screen
    6. A widget which can lock all the unlocked apps at once would be nice
    7. Shake to turn on glyph/torch like Motorola
    8. Private Safe to store media
    9. Game mode need huge improvement, the notifications needed to be minimalistic
    10. Gallery app from nothing

      Recommendations for Aesthetics :
      1. Nothing OS Widgets should have the option to use Material-you theming for accent colours. For people who don’t want the Black and Red options only. The whole phone following a same colour palette would be great. A pastel colourful-themed ui would look great like stock android with Nothing’s touch.

      1. Similarly if someone wants to use black/white and red aesthetic, that colour palette option in wallpapers and theming would be pretty convenient too.
      2. Since we don’t have an alert slider, An inbuilt Quick settings widget to change from Ringer to Vibration to Silent would be pretty amazing (Ik this can be done through an external app but it should be something inbuilt.)
      3. I know this is a long shot and a lot of effort but something for users to make widgets out of and upload it somewhere other users can try different widgets. It will give nothing ideas and widgets that are useful and great to add directly to the phones and put less pressure on their shoulders to give new widgets.

The app locker available in Nothing OS 2.0 is works like a charm. But one thing to notice is that it is using the same pattern or pin to unlock the app which is used to unlock the device ( not considering the fingerprint obviously) . In my opinion it should have a separate pattern/ pin/ password to unlock the app like most of the other custom UI. Because if anybody knows your password or accidentally sees it he can unlock any app in the phone . Then what will be the point of adding a lock? 😅

I had mentioned it in another post but I think it belongs more to this thread. Redesign the call screen because it is very boring, at least be able to show the contact images of outgoing or incoming calls in full screen. I also support the idea of a separate google image gallery and a better widget for this gallery.

Not sure if this is already possible, but the ability to customize color and most importantly shape of the home screen icons, so you can choose if you want them to be round or square, and if you choose square also how rounded the corners are.

•The ability to shut off the network access to individual apps, like in most Android UI would be extremely helpful as for some games/apps they show a horrendous amount of ads which I wanted to disallow from being download itself without using an adguard dns

•A seperate password/pattern/print for app locked items

•Also if you could fix the alarm being affected by the battery saver being on would be extremely helpful ☺️

As a recent convert from Samsung to Nothing, I am very impressed with the Nothing Phone 2. However, there are a few features that I would like to see added, and I believe that adding them to Nothing OS would make the phone even better.

      Specific Feature Requests:

      • Separate Home Screen and App Drawer Settings: I would like to be able to customize the Home Screen and App Drawer independently of each other. This would allow me to have different grid sizes and other settings for each area.

      • Adjustable Grid Size: I would like to be able to adjust the grid size for both the Home Screen and App Drawer. This would allow me to fit more or fewer icons on each screen, depending on my personal preference.

      • Folder Creation in App Drawer: I would like to be able to create folders in the App Drawer. This would allow me to better organize my apps and make them easier to find.

I believe that these features would be a valuable addition to Nothing OS and would make the Nothing Phone 2 even more attractive to users.

      Thank you!!!!!
