I want to see a case that make some contrast to the transparent and aesthetic of the back of phone(1)

I’m very skeptical about this. I want to show the original device as well but kind of make sure that it stays safe from scratches etc. I didn’t put any cover for my ear (1) but now when I see it has a lot of scratches and marks I hope the back panel which is made up of glass/plastic is of good quality so that the raw look of the phone (1) is maintained

I like to use cases but for this beauty i am sure am gonna use a transparent case but the problem is that transparent changes in colour to yellow after some time for that i have to change the case time to time.

saikiran_E1IAeItSgu For me, case is a must given my phone falls almost every week. Spigen has a companion to me for last 5 years. Phones changed from 3T to 8T but that Spigen Rugged Armour remained the same. Never saw 8T’s back properly…even the sticker with IMEI is still there on back of my phone. So, i dont think i can stay without a case.

As other have mentioned about Carl’s tweet to MKBHD and what he said in Android Central podcast, looks like there are special first party cases coming. Given first party, they surely will not hide design, so looks we are sorted on this.

It would be incredible if the phone (1) was made of material that cannot not be damaged or broken, but if it’s not, then yes I would use a protective case. I’m sure Nothing anticipates many (most?) users will feel the same; why else would they design their debut smartphone to have protruding lenses?

Oh stop it, you’re getting my hopes up!

Perhaps the recycled aluminium frame can clip off so it be cheaply replaced, along with the glass/plastic backplate? This would also allow other form-fitting cases to be used in place of the backplate – something I have begged for since OnePlus 2’s StyleSwap leather flip-cover (it was superb).

Dare I dream of its return. 😅

I would use a case as long as the case goes hand in hand with the design of the phone(1).

Carl said in a recent Podcast from Android Central that they are working on multiple cases, so I’m pretty sure they will go nice along.

I don’t think I would use a case.

With my current phone, I use a Senna leather sleeve because it forces me to be aware of every time I pick up and unlock my phone, plus I don’t have to hide it in a case.

With Nothing Phone (1) I will definitely not want to hide it under a case unless the case is consistent with and supports the design.

saikiran_E1IAeItSgu Bumper cases (only covering the frame) would be something to consider. Otherwise you’re just hiding the beautiful design

What I also use on my smartphones to avoid any scratches are reinforced or very reinforced protective films of excellent quality, which do not yellow: Rhinoshield, ZAGG, Nillkin, Invisible Shield & Akashi

I really hope this phone will be rock solid, we live in a world where any phone as to be protected, they sell gorilla glass, but screen still broke, we have some glass backplate, but if you slide it on any surface you get some scratches. I miss the old plastic phone where phone cases didn’t exist

PhantomPtII For sure the phone will come with a clear transparent case, or maybe one of those bumper cases that iPhones had a few years back. Or even a case that has cutouts for the lights. Any of these 3 options could be.

It would be nice to announce that the phone is made out of vibranium and doesn’t need a case, but probably that will not happen 🤣

I’m sure when Nothing sent prelaunch sample packages to YouTubers they received a bumper case, or at least some of them did? Can anyone confirm?

I’ve always bought the OnePlus “Karbon” cases; the carbon fibre/Kevlar blend that snap on tightly. Very low profile and provide great protection in conjunction with a glass screen protector. Lew’s “Latercase” brand makes them for a lot of devices now. I wouldn’t want a typical one of these for phone (1). Of course, we need to avoid covering the back. But maybe something in between a bumper and a Latercase, something very low profile that primarily protects the corners and leaves the back open.

I ordered the Nothing polycarbonate case because it was the only option, but my expectations are low. It’s not how I want the phone to look at all.

I’d rather a rubber bumper, over the polycarbonate but it’s still not ideal.

I’m also going to feel very dumb if my pre-order comes with a free case, having added one to my order. Especially as I don’t even like the look of it.
