Nothing Phone (2a) - Camera Feedback
- (Edited)
Let me start by saying this, I’m pleased with the camera performance I’m getting with the Phone 2a. But there’s still scope of improvement nonetheless. In this thread I want to adress those little inconveniences that myself and other users are facing.
- Granier picture. Sometimes in the pictures, a lot of grains are showing up.
- Focus improvements. The rear camera sensors might need some adjustments.
- Night mode camera improvements. The photo are not up to the mark in my limited usage.
- I also think that the photos should be a little bit more sharper, it’s my individual preference or everyone else also feels the same; idk yet but yeah I think photos that come out after processing need to be a little bit more sharp.
- The ultra wide cameras need some improvements overall in image quality and optimisation.
- The animal/human subject photos (skintone, hair, etc) can be optimised to look a little bit more distinguished and sharp.
Having addressed the issues I must now appreciate the nothing team for their pros in optimising cameras in the previous updates. So I appreciate the nothing team for that. Some of the things I like about the camera performance:
- HDR capabilities have improved significantly after the update.
- Portrait blur edge detection also has improved significantly. Although there’s still scope for improvements.
- I think the little processing time the camera app is taking to process the picture is justified (I may be wrong here but I think the mediatek hardware is a little bit slow in image processing department) due to hardware capabilities. I don’t want to create any controversy
just saying what I felt like but having said that I would also appreciate if they can improve the processing time though.
- The colours in the pictures come out true to natural so that’s a good thing I appreciate.
I would like other Phone 2a users in the community to share their opinions and suggestions regarding the same in this thread.
Thanks. Happy Clicking.
Update 1: (Dt. 20-03-24)
The ultrawide camera producing blured picture (as can be seen in the right side top corner parts in above picture)

Just tested it and the answer is I don’t think so brother. I think it has to do something with hdr (I may be wrong though). But if there’s a problem on certain specific scenario as of yours; it needs to be fixed.
Update 1: Actually it’s happening. When you want to capture any photos directly against a light source.
Another disastrous example of a shot I captured before the 2.5.4 update from ultrawide camera if I remember correctly:
The low light potential of the Phone (2a) seems to be very good but the annoying lens flares produced is clearly making the images unusable
As shown above all the images are kind of over exposed and produces lens flares.
If any other Phone(2a) users face the issue please attach your images to this thread so that team Nothing can look forward to the same.
This is fabulous phone with lovely design.
But I am facing a huge problem with its selfie camera.
32 megapixels provided by you is not up to the mark.
When we take a selfie it takes 1-2 second to process the image and after processing the image quality , colour saturation , and contrast related details changes than that of during we take selfie..…
I have upgraded my phone with latest version, and it is said that this selfie camera issue will be resolved with this upgrad, but not at all..
So team nothing , please look into this and resolve this soon.
Thank you.

Portrait mode in 1x and 2x needs to be fixed…50mp photos can be more detailed….
Night time flare in pics needs to be addressed.
- (Edited)
Not only night time…anytime when the light source is strong and sharp, lens flares can be seen. Seems like a software issue since on changing angle or orientation, sometimes it is fixed .Also, closing and reopening the camera app sometimes fixes the issue.
Also, the Ultrawide Camera`s image processing for LIGHT SOURCE is also not good and sometimes there is lens flare also.
Another thing, between the main camera and ultrawide, the color consistency is still a bit off with the main camera applying a yellow tone to the overall picture and the ultrawide having a more whitish tone. In update 2.5.4, it was said to be fixed but I can still notice the inconsistency. Is it natural or you guys are noticing that too?
Hello. I am a big fan of the nothing brand. I rarely participate in discussions and I’m not a fan of hating at all. I bought the Nothing 2a because of the design. I didn’t have high expectations for €300. The surprise was even greater that the phone is really great. probably the best for that price. But what I regret is the camera. As the guys above me write. The glare from the lamps is disastrous. Any outdoor night photo is unusable. The camera degrades completely. How could anyone let this out
Light flare in the night photos is the most important concern along with the noise during night.
Portrait mode - colors are washed a bit and in 2× details are missing
Shutter lag n opening n closing animation along with lens switching can be made more smooth
Have a look at noise and light flare/halo. Kindly look into this ASAP.

ShubhamSharma100 I bet they having a look at that at present already, as a) the claims for better camera performance gain a kinda upper hand and b) the overall results in non-ideal-conditions are visibly disappointing.
TheSensibleOne same in my phone too
