Anil Indeed our ID team were keen for the brief to be open in order not to limit creativity.
The limited guidance that we did provide was to help people make a successful submission: it needs to be a Phone (2a) not an entirely new device - we are focussing on new colours, materials and finishes.
The co-creation part of this project is very important. It means that there will be some back-and-forth between the hardware design winner and our internal teams to arrive at a product that can be R&D’d and manufactured within the timescales we have planned for this project. This means the winning submission may not exactly look like the end result, but should mean that both parties, the winner and Nothing, feel like they are building a product that they are proud of.
The final decision on who wins is with our ID team. We introduced a voting aspect to give our members a chance to support for the ideas they like and to show our teams which concepts are popular. As an example of how this could be useful - our teams may be torn between two potential winners and the votes could help them make their final decision.
