Poor quality WhatsApp voice messages

Coming from an S21 FE and since yesterday I am also a Phone 2a owner (white, 12/256GB).

In principle, the first impression is very good and I’m very satisfied except for WhatsApp and the Quality of the voice messages.

The S21 FE was clearly better in that, although i don’t know whether this might just be a WhatsApp bug, because with the recorder and with Telegram, voice messages sound much better and clearer than on WhatsApp. Do any of you have this “problem” too? I’m not assuming that the mobile phone is broken, everything works with the recorder and Telegram, the problem is only with WhatsApp.

Could it be that WhatsApp is not yet fully “tuned” to the 2a or is using the wrong microphone or that not both are being used and that it therefore sounds different or sounds worse?

I have the same problem on Nothing Phone (1). Everyone keeps telling me my voice sounds “too far”, and it happens just in WhatsApp

The Nothing ear is now known for having among the best microphone quality on phone calls due to the way it blocks out background noise.

However that quality doesn’t currently extend to recording voice notes on WhatsApp and other messaging apps (on android at least). I often leave voice notes while in loud places, only to find that my voice is barely audible in the recording.

Can something be done by firmware update to extend the voice filtering that exists in phone calls to recording voice messages in message apps
